Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ulfric Taque!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Self lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Taque takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Self scores with a nice right hand.
Self looks to land a combination but Taque avoids it well.
Self swinging wildly here.
Self pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Taque back to the cage. Self follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Self throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Self throws a right hand that Taque ducks under and follows up with a left that Taque also avoids with ease.
Self throws out a loose jab but Taque uses good head movement to avoid it.
Self swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Self could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A head kick misses from Self.
Self looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
No joy there for Self, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Taque bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Self! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

Self is rocked!

It looks like Larry Self has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Taque not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Oh Self is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Taque decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Self misses with the combination.
Self seems to have got his legs back now.

and Taque counters by gaining double undehooks. He picks up Self and carries him across to his own corner. OH, that's a monster slam and Self is out cold! A brutal end to the fight and credit to Taque for not following up with any more shots. He recognised that Self was out. Good sportsmanship.

After winning the bout, Ulfric Taque thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.

George St Pierre told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hill tries to clinch there but St Pierre circles away.
Hill misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from St Pierre.
St Pierre shoots in but no luck this time.
Hill is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

St Pierre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hill controls St Pierre momentarily but St Pierre frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hill is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
St Pierre controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Tyson Hill has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
St Pierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hill tries to avoid it but St Pierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hill to the ground. Hill escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Hill feints and as St Pierre raises his hands in defense, Hill changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
St Pierre keeping moving, preventing Hill from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hill is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because St Pierre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
St Pierre utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hill wants to pass the guard but St Pierre is keeping the position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hill stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. St Pierre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hill wants to improve his position but St Pierre is controlling well.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. St Pierre connects with a nice short shot to Hill's temple.
Hill is looking for a sweep. St Pierre is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hill is looking to control St Pierre's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hill avoid being mounted?
St Pierre is looking to advance position but Hill won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
St Pierre tries to stand but can't do so whilst Hill controls his leg.
Hill regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from St Pierre.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

St Pierre is sitting in close to Hill's body. Hill has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! St Pierre is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, St Pierre is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hill.

Hanson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silvinho but Silvinho pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Silvinho rushes Hanson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Silvinho escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Silvinho tries to clinch but Hanson is having none of it.
Silvinho is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Hanson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hanson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silvinho is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hanson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Erick Silvinho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of BJ Hanson.

The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Silvinho for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A short right hand to the side of the head by Silvinho.
Silvinho connects with a knee to the head.
Silvinho is pressed up against the cage. Hanson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silvinho down to the mat. Silvinho avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Hanson counters with a nice body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Silvinho forces Hanson back against the cage and clinches.

Silvinho pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hanson gets tackled into the cage by Silvinho. Silvinho maintains the clinch.
Silvinho connects with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Erick Silvinho dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Silvinho tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Hanson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A lazy left from Silvinho finds it's target.
Silvinho cracks Hanson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Silvinho misses the shot to the body.

Silvinho moves into the clinch.
Hanson has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Silvinho after a bit of a struggle.
Hanson jumps guard but Silvinho stands there with Hanson around his waist. Hanson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
