The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shebanov gets caught flat footed, as Ling shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ling throwing strikes from guard but Shebanov blocks nicely.
Ling is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ling drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ling jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Shebanov looking for a sweep. Not yet Shebanov, not yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shebanov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ling with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ling drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ling jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ling is looking to work some ground and pound but Shebanov has wrist control.
Ling pushing down on Shebanov's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Ling looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ling wants to work for an arm triangle but Shebanov is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Ling looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shebanov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ling thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Shebanov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Shebanov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ling. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ling throwing shots but Shebanov is blocking nicely.
Ling winds up and cracks Shebanov with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ling thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Shebanov's head.
Ling maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Shebanov could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ling has cracked it and Shebanov is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ling!
