The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van De Velde tries to clinch but Bates moves away and Bates counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Bates circles away from the clinch attempt and Bates counters with a shoot takedown. Van De Velde fights it but they end up in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bates gets to his feet - Van De Velde follows without any prompting. Van De Velde tries to clinch up and Bates counters with a nice double leg into guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bates stands up and waves to Van De Velde to follow him. Bates fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Van De Velde to the ground. Bates is now in Van De Velde's guard. Bates stands up from Van De Velde's guard - Bates perhaps looking for a knockout. A head kick by Van De Velde misses and Bates counters with a shoot takedown. Van De Velde fights it but they end up in guard.

Bates feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Van De Velde is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bates is controlling him. Van De Velde looks winded! Bates stands up and waves to Van De Velde to follow him. Van De Velde tries to sprawl but Bates drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Van De Velde looks to clinch and Bates counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Van De Velde! This has been an exciting period of action! Bates stands up. Robert Van De Velde seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

I think Riddle might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Tech N9ne - Be Jealous . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Grabapple misses with a few strikes there.
Grabapple tries to bum rush Riddle with a series of wild strikes but Riddle uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Grabapple takes a swing at Riddle's ribcage but misses. Grabapple waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Riddle. Riddle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Riddle looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A left and a right from Riddle both land. Nice combination. Riddle scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Riddle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Oh Riddle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Grabapple postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Riddle covers up, he's hurt! Grabapple keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Grabapple and the ref steps in to end the fight! Grabapple can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

VanSchool tries to clinch but Snack Cakes moves out of range. Paul VanSchool seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. VanSchool fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Snack Cakes to the ground. VanSchool is now in Snack Cakes's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Snack Cakes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. VanSchool is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. VanSchool won't allow Snack Cakes to get back to his feet. VanSchool stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Snack Cakes swivels though and keeps the full guard. VanSchool throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Snack Cakes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. VanSchool trying to control but Snack Cakes is working from the bottom. VanSchool drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and VanSchool jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. VanSchool missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. VanSchool stands and throws Snack Cakes's legs to the side, diving into side control. VanSchool is looking to take a break and control but Snack Cakes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. An elbow from VanSchool crashes against the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. VanSchool tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. The ground and pound from VanSchool seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. VanSchool landing strikes. VanSchool swings around for an armbar but Snack Cakes sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into VanSchool's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Snack Cakes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of VanSchool is proving hard to escape from. Snack Cakes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. VanSchool is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Snack Cakes is aware though and is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now VanSchool is on top in guard.
Snack Cakes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. VanSchool missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. VanSchool slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Snack Cakes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for VanSchool on the ground. VanSchool is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Snack Cakes is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. VanSchool throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. VanSchool working the ground and pound but Snack Cakes is defending the strikes. VanSchool looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. VanSchool is working to tighten is grip on Snack Cakes's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Snack Cakes has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but VanSchool is really squeezing tight and eventually Snack Cakes passes out! VanSchool breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Paul VanSchool! A very excited looking Paul VanSchool rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

Couture wants to pass the guard but Bean is keeping the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Couture sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Bean's guard. Bean is trying to stand.
Couture works his foot free and advances to mount. Couture with shots to the head and body - Bean looks very uncomfortable down there. Couture breaks from Bean's wrist control and lands an elbow.
It looks like Butter Bean has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Couture is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bean can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Butter Bean's cut is getting worse. Couture is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bean is surviving well by controlling Couture's body position as best he can. Oh Bean is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Bean is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Couture with shots to the head and body - Bean looks very uncomfortable down there. Couture lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Bean! Couture sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Bean and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Row misses with a low kick as Walker jumps back. Row takes a kick to the side of the head.
It looks like Death Row has been cut. Row fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Walker bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Walker connects with a solid leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Walker stuffs the takedown attempt from Row. Row gets slowly back to his feet. Walker lands a jab to the nose.
Row is rocked! Walker lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. A nice inside leg kick there by Walker. That's going to slow Row down. A nice leg kick lands there from Walker. Row is breathing heavily. Row misses with a straight left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker and Row are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Walker throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Row into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Walker knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buxton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mooose tries to avoid it but Buxton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mooose to the ground. Mooose escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mooose rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Buxton moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Mooose throws a right and a left that Buxton avoids nicely. Mooose stuns Buxton with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Mooose throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Mooose throws a right and a left that both miss. Mooose throws a right and a left that both miss. Buxton scores with a sloppy right hand. Mooose should have avoided that one. Mooose displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Buxton dives in and grabs Mooose's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mooose pushes down on Buxton's head and hops out. Mooose falls off balance throwing a combination
and Buxton counters by moving into the clinch. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Buxton prevents Mooose from breaking the clinch. Mooose drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Buxton gets underhooks to prevent Mooose's takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mooose wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Mooose working hard to break the clinch. Mooose is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Buxton pulls him back up using the underhooks. Daron Buxton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gegard Mooose. Mooose pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Mooose scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Mooose tries to bum rush Buxton with a series of wild strikes but Buxton uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Mooose scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Buxton doesn't seem bothered though. Mooose moves away from the strike by Buxton. Mooose misses with a double jab
and Buxton counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Buxton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Well, if Buxton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mooose is looking for a sweep. Buxton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mooose trying to control here.
Buxton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Buxton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mooose blocking the ground and pound attempt from Buxton. Buxton trying to control from Mooose's half guard. Mooose has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Buxton throws a strike but Mooose rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mooose is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Mooose must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Buxton wants to stand and escape but Mooose is having none of it. Mooose wants to pass the guard but Buxton is keeping the position. Buxton throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Buxton manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mooose manages to get himself to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mooose preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Buxton pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mooose is keeping the position for now. Buxton throws a strike but Mooose rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Mooose loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mooose won't allow Buxton to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Gegard Mooose will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ryukenchan shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Faragher is trying to defend but Ryukenchan finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Ryukenchan landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ryukenchan is trying to control. Faragher wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Ryukenchan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ryukenchan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Ryukenchan perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ryukenchan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Faragher can do anything to dispel that myth. Ryukenchan takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Faragher is trying to get back to full guard. Ryukenchan paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Chucky Ryukenchan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ryukenchan works the jab nicely. Faragher needs to keep his hands up - Ryukenchan had a free shot at his head there. Faragher checks the leg kick nicely there.

This has been an exciting period of action! Ryukenchan jabbing away but nothing is landing. Ryukenchan walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Faragher checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Ryukenchan misses with a leg kick and Faragher holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Faragher struggles to land a body shot inside as Ryukenchan controls his hands.
Faragher is trying to maintain a safe position but Ryukenchan gets an underhook and turns Faragher into the cage. Ryukenchan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Faragher on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Faragher takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
