Undercard bout

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Richard Gutierrez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerome Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gutierrez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is RG Entrance Song. Powers is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by We Run This - Missy Elliot. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Gutierrez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Powers advances position into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gutierrez is trying to get back to his feet.

Powers has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Gutierrez is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Powers yanks on the arm and Gutierrez is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Powers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez sizes up Farnsworth with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Alvarez lands with a cross.
Farnsworth has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Farnsworth there as he acknowledges the shot.
Farnsworth is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alvarez.
Farnsworth tries to move into range but Alvarez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Farnsworth takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Alvarez lands a slapping body shot.

Alvarez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Farnsworth is trying to control Alvarez's posture but Alvarez avoids it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Farnsworth tries to hold on but Alvarez pushes him away.
Farnsworth is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Alvarez lands a big shot there that rocks Farnsworth but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
BOOM! Alvarez connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Alvarez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Farnsworth has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Alvarez lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Farnsworth takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Alvarez unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Farnsworth wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Alvarez celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Stallion swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Toreben counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stallion's guard now.
Toreben keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stallion's head.
Toreben must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Toreben seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Stallion is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Toreben is controlling him.
Toreben postures up in Stallion's guard and throws a big left but Stallion blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stallion is looking to stand up but Toreben isn't so interested in that idea.
Toreben stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stallion swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
