The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The dragon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santiago lands with a shot to the body. Santiago gets caught flat footed, as Barzakov shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Santiago utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Barzakov is fighting to break Santiago's control of his arms but Santiago is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santiago can do anything to dispel that myth. Barzakov keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Santiago's head. Barzakov looking to pass the guard. Barzakov postures up.
Santiago might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Barzakov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Barzakov stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santiago swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barzakov trying to control the position from guard on top but Santiago is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Santiago is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Barzakov has a takedown stuffed. Santiago misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
