Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benjamin Breaker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jermaine Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz avoids the head kick by Breaker.
Breaker throws a head kick that misses.
Breaker misses with a hook. Cruz ducked under it nicely.
Benjamin Breaker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Breaker.
Cruz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Breaker throws a body punch but Cruz moves out of range.
Breaker looks to score with a jab to the body but Cruz is just out of range.
Cruz stuffs the takedown attempt from Breaker. Breaker gets slowly back to his feet.
Breaker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cruz pinned against the cage. Cruz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benjamin Breaker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cruz moves out of range of the strikes.

and Breaker counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Breaker.

No luck for Breaker with that takedown attempt.

Breaker takes a swing at Cruz's ribcage but misses.
Cruz avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cruz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Breaker swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Cruz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Breaker circles away quickly and effectively.
Breaker misses with a body punch
and Cruz counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Benjamin Breaker has been cut.
Jermaine Cruz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Breaker misses with a double jab.
Breaker swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Cruz lands a left and a right that send Breaker crashing to the mat, dazed. Cruz thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Breaker is rocked!
Nice body punch from Cruz.
Oh Breaker is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Breaker is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Breaker misses with a head kick.
Breaker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cruz avoids the head kick by Breaker.
Cruz feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Breaker crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Yushi Tatizu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Urijah Faber told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Faber shoots in looking for a takedown but Tatizu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Faber's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Faber is looking to clinch.
Tatizu tries to clinch up.
Nice takedown defense from Faber. No joy for Tatizu on that attempt.
Tatizu is looking to clinch but Faber is avoiding it.
Tatizu closes the distance and clinches up with Faber, looking for a takedown. Tatizu pushes Faber against the cage but Faber circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tatizu misses with a takedown
and Faber counters with a three punch combo that has Tatizu backing up. Tatizu nods at Faber to acknowledge the strikes.

letting Faber counter with a right hand.

Faber decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Tatizu avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Faber.
Tatizu wants to control but Faber is keeping busy.
Faber seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tatizu is looking to escape.

Tatizu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Faber controls from within his opponent's guard.
Tatizu is trying to keep Faber in close.
Faber throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Tatizu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Faber wants to stand but Tatizu is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tatizu escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Faber gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Faber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Tatizu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Faber is controlling him.

Tatizu pushes Faber off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Tatizu is looking to clinch but Faber is avoiding it.

Tatizu closes the distance and clinches up with Faber, looking for a takedown. Tatizu pushes Faber against the cage but Faber circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Faber closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Faber escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tatizu misses with a few strikes there.
Faber shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tatizu sprawls well. Tatizu wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Faber gets slowly back to his feet.
Tatizu keeps the fight on the outside.
Faber fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Tatizu drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Faber takes the fight into the clinch.

Faber manages to break the clinch.

Faber has managed to clinch.
Tatizu prevents the takedown attempt.
Tatizu wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Faber has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Tatizu after a bit of a struggle.

Faber escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tatizu tries to close the distance and clinch but Faber swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tatizu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Faber fails with an attempt to clinch.

Tatizu throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Faber was covering up waiting for the punch and Tatizu finishes the takedown easily into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Urijah Faber will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Tatizu is trying hard to land a takedown here. Faber sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Faber is squirming around, avoiding Tatizu's attempts to control the action.

Tatizu blocks Faber's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Faber tries to hold on but Tatizu postures up.
Tatizu postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Faber looks a forlorn figure.

Faber really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tatizu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tatizu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Faber is looking to escape.
Tatizu looking to control and managing it successfully.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Tatizu looking to control but Faber is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Faber takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Faber in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Faber reaches up to try and control the position but Tatizu seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Faber rolls and tries to escape and now Tatizu has his back!
Tatizu is looking to control Faber but Faber is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Tatizu has managed to slip his arm under Faber's chin. This could be all over... yep, Faber is tapping out! Submission win for Tatizu.
