Gonzalez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Pereira is surviving well by controlling Gonzalez's body position as best he can. Gonzalez fails to take his opponent's back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Pereira has his hands clasped together but Gonzalez breaks the hold and Pereira is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gonzalez!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Devon Gonzalez! Devon Gonzalez got down on his knees post fight and begged the management for a title shot. 'Please, I want that title shot so bad! Give it to me!'
