The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mir moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Mir will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hanamoto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kalashnikov as he jumps to the side. Kalashnikov stalks Hanamoto and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hanamoto's face. Hanamoto staggers backwards, shaken.
It looks like Shuuji Hanamoto has been cut. Hanamoto scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Hanamoto missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hanamoto is trying to control the action in half guard but Kalashnikov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hanamoto is controlling the pace.

Kalashnikov keeping moving, preventing Hanamoto from controlling successfully. Hanamoto throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kalashnikov works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Hanamoto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Kalashnikov connects with a body shot. Pyotr Kalashnikov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hanamoto takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Hanamoto shoots in but Kalashnikov avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hanamoto fails with the takedown. Kalashnikov lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hanamoto's sensitive parts.

Kalashnikov scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Kalashnikov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Hanamoto takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Kalashnikov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hanamoto looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. No luck for Hanamoto with that takedown attempt. Kalashnikov throws a nice inside leg kick. Hanamoto throws a strike aimed at the side of Kalashnikov's head but Kalashnikov avoids it well. Hanamoto is trying to ground and pound but Kalashnikov uses the momentary lack of control by Hanamoto to regain half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hanamoto tries to clinch up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hanamoto fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kalashnikov sprawls well initially but Hanamoto persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Kalashnikov keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hanamoto is keen to just control but Kalashnikov is a slippery customer. Hanamoto throwing shots but Kalashnikov is blocking nicely. Hanamoto slips a nice elbow through Kalashnikov's hands, connecting with Kalashnikov's forehead. Hanamoto not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munky moves into the clinch. Munky gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Nice elbow from Munky. Munky taking a breather. Godcheck goes for a takedown attempt but Munky pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tomas jabs at Yamato's body. A swing and a miss from Tomas. Good leg kick by Yamato there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Yamato. Tomas shrugs it off though. Yamato on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Tomas tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Yamato was well out of range. Poor timing from Tomas. Tomas throws a hook but Yamato avoids it easily. Mang Tomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Yamato throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Russo cracks Kisaragi with a solid left hand. Russo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kisaragi is keeping the position for now. Kisaragi pulls Russo in close to prevent any damage. Russo stopping the sweep attempt from Kisaragi. Kisaragi is trying to control the position but Russo postures up. Russo wants to control from the top but Kisaragi keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Russo's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Kisaragi looking to hit a scissor sweep but Russo is one step ahead there. Kisaragi preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Russo wants to control from the top but Kisaragi keeps moving. Russo forces his way into half guard. Russo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kisaragi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Yuffie Kisaragi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Russo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kisaragi's head. Russo is trying to control the action in half guard but Kisaragi is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Russo stalks Kisaragi and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kisaragi's face. Kisaragi staggers backwards, shaken. Russo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kisaragi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Russo throws a lazy right hand but Kisaragi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kisaragi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Russo.
Kisaragi with a lazy takedown attempt and Russo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Russo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kisaragi avoids it really well and circles away. A slow jab from Kisaragi misses its intended target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheers as Russo lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kisaragi doesn't seem phased though. Good standup being displayed there by Russo as he connects with a hook. Kisaragi swings for the body but Russo moves out of range.

Russo thuds a left hand into Kisaragi's body. Kisaragi misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Russo.
Kisaragi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Russo as he avoids it easily. Excellent takedown into side control there by Russo. Kisaragi tries to improve position but can't.
And that's the end of the fight! Jimmy Russo showed his dominance in that final round. Well Russo has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
