Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
BangEm throws a right and a left that Simpson avoids nicely.
BangEm rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Simpson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
BangEm's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and BangEm duly obliges.
BangEm connects with a looping right hand.
BangEm is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
BangEm throws a series of punches but Simpson avoids them all with ease.
Mike BangEm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
BangEm throws a right and a left that both miss.
BangEm lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
BangEm throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
BangEm looks to land a combination but Simpson avoids it well.
BangEm misses with a series of wild punches.
Simpson shoots in for a takedown but BangEm shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
BangEm looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
BangEm scores with a hook to the body. Simpson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
BangEm swinging wildly here.

Simpson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching BangEm on his heels. He'll look to pass BangEm's guard now, I'm sure.

Simpson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Simpson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Simpson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Simpson throws a big right hand that misses.

Simpson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Simpson pushes down on BangEm's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Simpson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! BangEm could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Simpson has cracked it and BangEm is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Simpson!

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laranja swats away the attempt to clinch by Frecu Ii.
That kick from Frecu Ii tenderised Laranja's leg. Laranja is trying to keep his angry face on.
Laranja misses with a takedown attempt - Frecu Ii sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Frecu Ii gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Laranja to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Laranja passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Laranja has hold of Frecu Ii's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Frecu Ii tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Laranja cranks the arm and Frecu Ii screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Frecu Ii, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Davies shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cilli is trying to defend but Davies finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Cilli wants to control but Davies is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cilli avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Davies.
Cilli trying to hold on to Davies's head to control him but Davies postures up.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Davies feints and as Cilli raises his hands in defense, Davies changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cilli lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Davies!

Cilli can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Davies is looking to escape.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cilli is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bison dives in and grabs Histon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Histon pushes down on Bison's head and hops out.

Bison closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bison lands in his opponent's guard.
Histon throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Bison slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bison passes Histon's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Bison perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Histon won't allow Bison to pass to mount.

Bison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Histon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bison.

Bison is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Histon is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
