Good standup being displayed there by Zorro Ii as he connects with a hook. Sloppy strikes from Zorro Ii. Those never looked like landing. Zorro Ii tries to keep at a distance but Kavanagh has taken the fight into the clinch. Kavanagh breaks the clinch.
Kavanagh tries to clinch but Zorro Ii moves out of range. Kavanagh looks to score with a jab to the body but Zorro Ii is just out of range. A head kick misses from Kavanagh. Zorro Ii scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Zorro Ii uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kavanagh. Zorro Ii throws a hook but Kavanagh blocks it. Zorro Ii throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kavanagh paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Kavanagh tries to close the distance and clinch but Zorro Ii swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kavanagh closes the distance and clinches. Kavanagh crunches a lovely knee into Zorro Ii's ribcage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Zorro Ii is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Zorro Ii wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Zorro Ii drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kavanagh pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kavanagh throws a low kick but Zorro Ii avoids it. Kavanagh throws a lazy head kick and Zorro Ii counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kavanagh is lucky that one didn't land flush. Zorro Ii takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jarlsberg shoots for a takedown but Cruz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jarlsberg is trying hard to land a takedown here. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

Hartnell bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Thomas's head. Hartnell scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Hartnell connects with a good right hand that stumbles Thomas. Thomas circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Thomas takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Nice takedown defense from Hartnell. No joy for Thomas on that attempt. Hartnell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thomas manages to avoid it. Hartnell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Hartnell's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Thomas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hartnell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Thomas misses with a punch to the body.
