Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Berzins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Kent!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Berzins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Berzins tries for a kimura but Kent is defending well.

Berzins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kent really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berzins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Berzins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Berzins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kent seems a little lost for a moment, as Berzins dominates the positioning.

Kent is trying to control Berzins's posture but Berzins avoids it.

Berzins tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Berzins has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kent seems a little lost for a moment, as Berzins dominates the positioning.
Kent wants to get back to his feet but Berzins drags him back down.

Berzins is trying to get an arm triangle but Kent is defending well.
Berzins could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Berzins working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Berzins thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Berzins swings around for an armbar but Kent sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Berzins's guard.

Berzins throws his legs up looking for a submission but Kent uses it to pass to side control.

You can see the frustration on Berzins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Berzins sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kent tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Berzins.
Berzins manages to get to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Berzins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Berzins moves nicely into side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Berzins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kent is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Kent lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Michael Berzins has been cut.
Kent lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kent shoots in looking for a takedown. Berzins tries to sprawl out of it but Kent keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Berzins manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kent throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kent lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Berzins misses with a wild body shot.
Kent scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Berzins looks to land a left hand but Kent moved out of range nicely.
Marcus Kent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Kent fails to land the takedown.
Kent is breathing heavily.
Berzins showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kent.
Berzins misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kent.
Berzins pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Kent throws a body kick that misses.
Berzins misses with a body shot.
Kent pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Berzins avoids the head kick by Kent.
Berzins throws a lazy right hand but Kent sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kent lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Berzins circles away quickly and effectively.
A looping hook to the body misses from Berzins. Kent does a little dance to reset his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Berzins looking to score a takedown here. Kent is defending well but Berzins drives through and ends up in Kent's guard.
Berzins's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Berzins throwing strikes from guard but Kent blocks nicely.
Michael Berzins overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Berzins drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Berzins as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Kent screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Berzins! Nice submission victory there!

Punk slaps away a takedown attempt from Cipao, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Punk stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Punk wants it to stay on the feet.
Punk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michal Cipao. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Punk counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Punk.

Punk has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Cipao to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Punk is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Cipao pulls down on the head and he's put Punk to sleep! This one is all over!
