The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thawatchai tries to clinch up. Fox looks for a takedown but Thawatchai sprawls well. Thawatchai tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Thawatchai drops his hands momentarily and Fox takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Fox avoids the head kick by Thawatchai.
Thawatchai doesn't manage to clinch there - Fox circles away.
Thawatchai stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Thawatchai wants it to stay on the feet. Fox misses with an uppercut. Fox circles away from the clinch attempt.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Fox seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Thawatchai is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thompson tries to bum rush Wyatt with a series of wild strikes but Wyatt uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Thompson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wyatt's hands. Thompson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Wyatt.
Enoch Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wyatt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thompson. Thompson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Thompson throws the left hand but Wyatt avoids the punch easily. Scott Carson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Carson throws the kick towards the body but Redfield avoids it. Carson misses with the body kick and Redfield counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Carson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Carson throws a head kick that misses and Redfield counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Redfield. Carson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Redfield is controlling him. Redfield makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Carson is still on wobbly legs! Can Redfield finish him? A big right followed by a crushing left from Redfield knocks Carson out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zuko with a body punch. A glancing blow. Zuko displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spartan throws out the jab. Zuko drops his hands momentarily and Spartan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice uppercut lands for Zuko. That snapped Spartan's head back.
Spartan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's one minute gone in the round. Zuko is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Zuko chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Spartan can pounce on him.
Spartan swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Spartan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Zuko at a distance.

"I don't think so" says Spartan as he avoids it easily. Spartan shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Zuko on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Spartan throws a big shot that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zuko getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Spartan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Zuko. Zuko circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Jab from Spartan. Zuko swings away with a leg kick that misses. Spartan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Spartan lands with a cross.
Zuko is rocked!
It looks like Kenshi Zuko has been cut. Spartan throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Zuko stumbling backwards into the cage! Zuko bounces back off the cage towards Spartan, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Spartan lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Spartan celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Matt Spartan! Matt Spartan retains his welterweight title! A less than humble Matt Spartan misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
