2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bas Rutten! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wellington takes a swing at Rutten's ribcage but misses. Wellington is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rutten shoots in and gets a takedown into Wellington's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Wellington wants to get back to his feet but Rutten is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rutten in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wellington will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wellington is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. Rutten thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wellington has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rutten is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rutten in particular looking to stall. Wellington is trying to maintain the position but Rutten is very close to passing his half guard.
Brick Wellington has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Wellington tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rutten takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Rutten shoots in and gets a takedown into Wellington's guard. Rutten would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The fight stays on the outside here - Wellington looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Wellington lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Bas Rutten has been cut. Rutten bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rutten decides to stand back up. Rutten steps back and let's Wellington get back to his feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rutten looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Wellington manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Bas Rutten has got the better of the ground game so far. Wellington is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Rutten defends well. Rutten must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wellington quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Rutten has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Russo tries to clinch but Salvador moves out of range. Russo stuffs the takedown attempt from Salvador. Salvador gets slowly back to his feet. Salvador tries to bum rush Russo with a series of wild strikes but Russo uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Salvador tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Russo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Salvador. Russo shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Salvador as he avoids it easily. Russo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvador as he jumps to the side. Doren Salvador has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rene Russo. Salvador looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Russo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Salvador is one step ahead there. Russo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. And that's the end of the fight! Doren Salvador showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Salvador, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
