Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pawel Suchocki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reeve NcDemomnd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). NcDemomnd has chosen Back in Black as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Reeve NcDemomnd told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michal Materla!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Materla shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Harvey counters with a three punch combo that has Materla backing up. Materla nods at Harvey to acknowledge the strikes.

Materla fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Harvey to the ground. Materla is now in Harvey's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Materla throws an elbow that misses. Harvey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Materla's guard. Nice move by Harvey!
Harvey looking to sit in guard and control but Materla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harvey looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Materla wants to get up but he can't break Harvey's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Harvey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Materla is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Harvey defends it well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harvey is trying to maintain the position but Materla is very close to passing his half guard.
Harvey is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Materla throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Harvey works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Materla is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That was a close round but I would say that PJ Harvey will probably get the nod.

The referee is keeping an eye on Harvey - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Materla keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harvey's efforts to push away.
Materla changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Harvey fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Materla shoots in looking for a takedown. Harvey tries to sprawl out of it but Materla keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harvey manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Harvey throws a nice looking combination but Materla bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Materla closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Materla shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Harvey sprawls well. Harvey wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Materla gets slowly back to his feet.

Harvey gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Materla keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harvey's efforts to push away.

Harvey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Materla throws a right and a left that Harvey avoids nicely.

and Harvey counters with a one-two to the body.
Harvey misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Harvey counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Harvey tries to bum rush Materla with a series of wild strikes but Materla uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The fighters circle momentarily. Harvey darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Materla takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The fight stays on the outside here - Harvey looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Harvey moves in looking to clinch but Materla pushes him off.

That's time! Harvey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Materla shoots in for a takedown but Harvey shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Materla throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sloppy strikes from Harvey. Those never looked like landing.
Materla shoots for a double leg takedown but Harvey sprawls well. He's pushed Materla's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Michal Materla seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Materla is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Harvey is just riding it out for now. Materla eventually gives up the hold.

Materla closes the distance and clinches up with Harvey, looking for a takedown. Materla pushes Harvey against the cage but Harvey circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Materla gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Harvey regains guard.

Materla got a little sloppy there for a moment and Harvey has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Materla has managed to get both his arms back between Harvey's legs - danger averted.
Harvey wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Materla manages to pass to side control.

Materla winds up and cracks Harvey with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Materla is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Harvey sees it coming and defends easily.
Harvey scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Materla manages to mount him!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Materla cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Harvey wants to control but Materla is having none of it.
Harvey is squirming around, avoiding Materla's attempts to control the action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Harvey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Materla gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Harvey has his foot on Materla's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Materla works his way back into a safe position though.

Harvey is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Materla rolls with it to try and escape but Harvey cranks on the arm and Materla is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
