The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duarte changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tunay looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tunay looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Duarte tries to stand but Tunay is controlling his head.

Duarte is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tunay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Duarte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tunay, who protects the arm well.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ben Asa throws a solid leg kick but Smith takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Ben Asa.

Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ben Asa to the ground. Smith is now in Ben Asa's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Ben Asa is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ben Asa. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

It looks like Jehoshaphat Ben Asa has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ben Asa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Smith manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aldon Smith dominated that round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Smith throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ben Asa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

A very excited looking Aldon Smith rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
