Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Santiago Pozinibbio! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jonny Smith! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pozinibbio with a lazy takedown attempt so Smith counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Pozinibbio has his foot on Smith's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Smith works his way back into a safe position though. Smith stands and throws Pozinibbio's legs to the side, diving into side control. Pozinibbio is looking to regain half guard here but Smith keeps moving and retains side control. Pozinibbio might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Smith is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pozinibbio has escaped the position, nice work there. Pozinibbio is looking to reverse the position. Smith tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Smith has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pozinibbio sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Smith is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pozinibbio defends it well. Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pozinibbio doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith. Pozinibbio looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pozinibbio is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold. Pozinibbio looking for submissions off his back. Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pozinibbio doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith. Smith has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Pozinibbio working to try and regain half guard.
Smith wants to finish this one by submission but Pozinibbio is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Smith.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith has control of Pozinibbio's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pozinibbio regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pozinibbio is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Pozinibbio is forced to tap! Great finish!
