The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Cold thows a leg kick but Shepard checks it
and Shepard counters with a leg kick.
Cold stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Shepard loads up on a big right hand but Cold slips the punch.
Cold scores with a jab to the body.
Cold throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shepard counters with a straight right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cold wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Shepard with a hook.
Cold lands with a nice combination. Shepard backs away looking to recover.
Cold lands a nice hook to Shepard's body. Shepard takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Blake Shepard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shepard takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Shepard motions for Cold to come forward. Shepard throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cold scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cold plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Shepard swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Shepard face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!

Richard feints and as De Silva raises his hands in defense, Richard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Richard drops back looking for a leg! De Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and De Silva manages to kick Richard off! Richard jumps back into De Silva's guard.

Richard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! De Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Richard, into his guard.

Richard pushes a forearm under De Silva's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, De Silva is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Haugen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hua pinned against the cage. Hua gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hua goes for a double leg but Haugen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Haugen continues to drive forward.

Hua escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Haugen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hua's half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Haugen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Haugen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hua manages to get himself to full guard.
Hua wants to stand but Haugen is controlling the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Haugen throws a series of punches but Hua moves out of range.

Haugen pulls Hua into guard.
Haugen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Haugen wants to stand but Hua is controlling the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Haugen working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hua doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hua manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of David Hua.
A punch lands to the side of Hua 's head but he takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Einar Haugen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Haugen tries to clinch but Hua is having none of it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Haugen enables Hua to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Haugen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Hua has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Haugen is proving hard to escape from.

Haugen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hua gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hua fails with a takedown attempt.

Hua is trying hard to land a takedown here. Haugen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Haugen tries to clinch but Hua is having none of it.
Haugen slips a straight right by Hua.

Hua could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Haugen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hua is proving hard to escape from.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Haugen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Hua has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Haugen after a bit of a struggle.

Haugen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Haugen manages to end up in side control.

Well Haugen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
