Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Philander Chavez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Heath Chappell! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chavez darts in trying to clinch and Chappell counters with a big head kick but Chavez shrugs it off.
Chappell moves into range and clinches up with Chavez. Chavez struggles to land a body shot inside as Chappell controls his hands.

Chappell breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Chavez moves to clinch but Chappell breaks away and Chappell counters with a body kick that stops Chavez in his tracks momentarily. Chavez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Nice takedown defense from Chappell. No joy for Chavez on that attempt. Chappell lands a head kick!
Chappell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chavez to score an easy takedown into full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Chavez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Chappell wants to stand but Chavez is controlling the position. Chappell will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chavez works over Chappell with some ground and pound from guard. Chappell looking for a sweep. Not yet Chappell, not yet. Chappell wants to stand up but Chavez is controlling him. Chavez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Chavez is in close to Chappell's body, working some short punches and elbows. Chappell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Chavez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Chavez slips nicely into half guard. Chappell on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Chappell tries to roll over but Chavez keeps him under control. Chavez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chavez slips a nice elbow through Chappell's hands, connecting with Chappell's forehead.
Chappell pushes Chavez off and gets back to his feet. Chappell throws a wild body kick that Chavez sees coming a mile off. Chappell fails with an attempt to clinch.
Chavez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chappell swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chappell goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Chappell looks winded! The fight stays on the outside here - Chappell looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A short body shot lands from Chavez as the two fighters clinch.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Chappell is pressed up against the cage. Chavez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Chappell down to the mat. Chappell avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Chappell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chavez swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chappell goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Chappell is looking to clinch. Philander Chavez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chavez can't break the clinch.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Chappell lands a good knee to the midsection. Chavez won't want to take too many of those.
Chappell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chappell connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Chavez fails in his attempt to clinch. Chappell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Chavez. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Philander Chavez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chavez moves in looking to clinch but Chappell pushes him off. Chappell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Chappell throws a sloppy head kick and Chavez moves out of range easily.
Chappell closes the distance and pushes Chavez back into the cage.

Chappell manages to break the clinch.
Chappell clinches up with Chavez and pushes him back against the cage. Chavez misses with a hook to the ribs.
Chavez wants to break free but Chappell has control.
Chappell just leaning against Chavez, taking a breather. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chappell trying to land knees to the body.
Chappell breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Chappell keeps the fight on the outside. Chavez wants to clinch up but Chappell keeps it at a distance.
Chavez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chappell napping and manages to drive through into side control! Chappell stops Chavez from passing to mount. Chavez lands a nice forearm strike. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Chavez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chappell has escaped the position, nice work there.
Chavez has hold of Chappell's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Chappell tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Chavez cranks the arm and Chappell screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Chappell, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Philander Chavez! Philander Chavez spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Goldmill avoids the body shot from Bledsoe.
Bledsoe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Goldmill keeping moving, preventing Bledsoe from controlling successfully. Bledsoe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Goldmill swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bledsoe advances position into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Goldmill prevents Bledsoe from improving position.

Bledsoe tries to control but Goldmill wriggling away.

Fist fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hicks sprawls well initially but Fist persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fist throws a strike but Hicks avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Hicks has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Fist doesn't defend quickly enough and Hicks has managed to lock this one up! Can Fist escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hicks on a fantastic submission victory.
