Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector McGregor! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zac Wilton! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGregor gets a takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. McGregor wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilton is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Wilton throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Wilton desperately trying to maintain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGregor tries to stand but can't do so whilst Wilton controls his leg. Wilton trying to control from the bottom.
McGregor prevents Wilton from improving his position. McGregor decides to stand and escape the position. No joy there for Wilton, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hector McGregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGregor defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wilton. McGregor shoots in but Wilton avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wilton tries to close the distance and clinch but McGregor swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. McGregor checks a leg kick nicely. McGregor dives in and scores a takedown into Wilton's guard. McGregor is looking to stand up but Wilton won't let him. Wilton wants to sweep but no luck. McGregor is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. McGregor stops Wilton from standing up. McGregor passes Wilton's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wilton trying to hold on to McGregor's head to control him but McGregor postures up.
Wilton looks winded! McGregor decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice sprawl there from Wilton as McGregor shoots in. Wilton gets caught flat footed, as McGregor shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wilton looking to control.
McGregor with a nice head shot there. McGregor stands up and waves to Wilton to follow him. McGregor tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wilton swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector McGregor. That's going to take a lot out of him. McGregor closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wilton's guard. McGregor gets to his feet. Wilton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Wilton is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McGregor's half guard. Wilton is keen to just control but McGregor is a slippery customer.

He's hooked one of Wilton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wilton's back!
That's four minutes gone in the round. McGregor looking to break Wilton's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Wilton remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise McGregor will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Wilton just trying to survive but McGregor is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. McGregor is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Wilton defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Will McGregor go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
I really don't envy Wilton right now.
McGregor could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McGregor is cranking Wilton's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Wilton! He's tightened the choke and Wilton is tapping out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Waffle or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad. Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Waffle throwing strikes but missing. Waffle connects with a couple of short punches. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smith is on top in guard.
Smith is fighting to break Waffle's control of his arms but Waffle is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smith forces his way into half guard. Waffle is controlling Smith's position as best he can from this difficult position. Waffle is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Waffle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Waffle is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Waffle tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Waffle shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one. Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Waffle, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Waffle. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith gets the takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith tries to stand but Waffle is controlling his head. Waffle is trying to work for a sweep but Smith has mounted him! Smith lands with some strikes. Waffle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground. Waffle tries to hold on but Smith pushes him away. Waffle is breathing heavily. Waffle is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith controlling from mount. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Smith fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Waffle tries to improve his position but instead Smith has taken his back! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Smith gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Smith gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Smith apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Waffle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Waffle shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Waffle's guard now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith wants to control but Waffle is keeping him busy. Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Smith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Waffle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Waffle tries to bench press Smith off him but Smith keeps the position. Smith is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Waffle on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Waffle tries to get out of the position. Waffle is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Waffle to escape.

Ghelo Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Waffle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side. Waffle swats away the attempt to clinch by Smith. Smith gets the takedown into side control. Smith is chipping away with strikes.
Waffle is not content to let Smith control the position. Smith tries to move into full mount but can't pass Waffle's legs. Smith working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ground and pound from Smith seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. You can see the frustration on Waffle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Smith landing a few strikes. Waffle tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it. Waffle takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Smith gets to mount! Waffle was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smith looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Waffle is trying to escape the mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Waffle tries to improve his position but instead Smith has taken his back! Waffle trying to control but not successfully. Smith trying to control. I really don't envy Waffle right now.

And that's the end of the fight! Ghelo Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ghelo Smith wins by unanimous decision! A relieved looking Ghelo Smith thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
