The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vrutaal keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Vrutaal defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Nelson.
Nelson closes the distance and clinches up with Vrutaal, looking for a takedown. Nelson pushes Vrutaal against the cage but Vrutaal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mourits Vrutaal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sargent Nelson.
Nelson looks for a takedown but Vrutaal sprawls well.

Vrutaal ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Nelson moves away.
Nelson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vrutaal but Vrutaal pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Nelson darts in and clinches Vrutaal up against the cage.

It looks like Sargent Nelson has been cut.

Nelson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vrutaal walks away with a smile on his face. Nelson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Nelson closes the distance and pushes Vrutaal back into the cage.

Sargent Nelson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sargent Nelson's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Whitfield fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Whitfield misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A cross from Boomer lands.
Whitfield shoots in looking for a takedown. Boomer tries to sprawl out of it but Whitfield keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Boomer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Boomer swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Whitfield.
Whitfield tries to clinch there but Boomer circles away.
Boomer scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Whitfield doesn't seem bothered though.
Boomer lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
