The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with the takedown
and Kokoshka connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A combination from Smith does no damage.
Smith has his takedown stuffed
and Kokoshka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Kokoshka swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kokoshka pinned against the cage. Kokoshka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Oskar Kokoshka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Smith.
Kokoshka will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Smith shoots for a takedown but Kokoshka saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Kokoshka sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Kokoshka counters with a good, hard body kick but Smith shrugs it off.

and Kokoshka counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Kokoshka to acknowledge the strikes.

and Kokoshka cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Kokoshka's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kokoshka duly obliges.
Jacob Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kokoshka, as that shot connected.
Smith blocks a low kick nicely.

Kokoshka closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smith to the mat! Smith manages to get full guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kokoshka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kokoshka manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kokoshka seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kokoshka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Smith is tightening it up a little... Kokoshka has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kokoshka reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kokoshka taps out! Nice BJJ there by Smith!
