The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Ortiz.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ortiz has had enough of the clinch but Hughes keeps him there for the moment.
Ortiz is trying to push Hughes away but Hughes has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Hughes turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Hughes manages to end up in side control.
Ortiz can't do much from the bottom here.

Hughes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ortiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ortiz stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Hughes throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ortiz.

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dez Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Deacon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dez Cortez had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 207.4lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Deacon fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cortez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Cortez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Deacon lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Dez Cortez's cut is getting worse.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Deacon engages and cracks Cortez with a massive lead left hook - Cortez tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Deacon is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Amado tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Amado has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Amado is looking to take a break and control but Trejo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Diego Trejo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Amado tries to close the distance and clinch but Trejo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Trejo.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Amado in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
