The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Breeze drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Breeze is working Diamonds over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Breeze landing some decent shots from guard. Breeze lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Breeze with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Breeze lands a couple of decent looking shots. Breeze slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Breeze working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Breeze working some strikes from top position. Breeze working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Diamonds's head. Breeze working some strikes from top position. Breeze is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Diamonds is rocked! Breeze trying to control the position from guard on top but Diamonds is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Breeze is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Oh Diamonds is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Breeze looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Diamonds can't hide his disappointment, as Breeze celebrates the victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De La Rue takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. De La Rue throws out a token jab with nothing on it. The fight stays on the outside here - De La Rue looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Alport fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. De La Rue looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Alport throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around De La Rue's waist but De La Rue gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alport off to one side. De La Rue misses with a right hand and Alport makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Alport closes the distance and clinches. De La Rue is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Alport is defending well for now. De La Rue takes a knee right on the jaw!

Alport throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. De La Rue was covering up waiting for the punch and Alport finishes the takedown easily into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alport is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nick Alport hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Alport misses with a two punch combination.
Alport works De La Rue's body with a nice hook. Alport scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Alport tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. De La Rue is looking to regain half guard here but Alport keeps moving and retains side control. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. You can see the frustration on De La Rue's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. De La Rue seems a little lost for a moment, as Alport dominates the positioning.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Alport was stalling too much, according to the referee. Alport scores with a jab. De La Rue acknowledges it with a nod of the head. De La Rue swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Alport misses with a head kick.
Alport walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. De La Rue checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. De La Rue lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Alport gets in close and instigates a clinch. Alport throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Alport, right into the meat.

The fighters are pinned against the cage. De La Rue manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Alport shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says De La Rue as he avoids it easily. Maurice De La Rue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Alport. Alport shoots for a double leg takedown but De La Rue sprawls well. He's pushed Alport's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Alport changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De La Rue tries to avoid it but Alport manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De La Rue to the ground. De La Rue escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A decent looking cross lands there for De La Rue. Maurice De La Rue is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Alport throws a sloppy head kick and De La Rue moves out of range easily. Maurice De La Rue is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Alport rushes De La Rue and presses him up against the cage. Alport's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Alport moves forwards but De La Rue connects with a nice, crisp jab.

De La Rue is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Alport. Alport closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Alport is trying to trip De La Rue. He has hold of a leg but De La Rue is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Alport persists though and gets the takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! De La Rue is trying to keep Alport in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Nick Alport comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Alport has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Johnson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Mein changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Mein manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mein shoots in and bounces Johnson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Johnson wants to stand and escape but Mein is having none of it. Mein controls from within his opponent's guard. Mein has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Mein throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Mein scoring with punches to the head and body.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Guillaume Mein wasn't doing enough on the ground. Mein shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Justin Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mein closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard. Mein is taking a break and basically stalling. Bhaltair looks for a takedown but Sovat sprawls well. Sovat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bhaltair paws at him with a jab and circles away. Sovat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bhaltair as he jumps to the side. Sovat gets a double leg takedown into Bhaltair's guard. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fenix Espada! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Thomas Hooke! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Espada takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hooke fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Espada on the side of the head. Hooke ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Espada moves away. A slow jab from Hooke misses its intended target. Espada gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hooke. A head kick by Espada - that's a beauty! Hooke is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Espada can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Fenix Espada! Fenix Espada retains his middleweight title! A relieved looking Fenix Espada thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
