The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Let's hope that Mcgregor has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcgregor postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Takaku is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mcgregor, into his guard.

Takaku is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcgregor sees it coming and defends easily.

Takaku looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mcgregor is looking for a sweep. Takaku is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Takaku is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Takaku is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mcgregor defends it well.
