4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmitry Volkov! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Toney throws a series of punches but Volkov moves out of range. Volkov tries to clinch up. Volkov cracks a nice hook into Toney's ribs. Toney misses with the combination.
Toney throws a combination that misses and Volkov counters with a nice uppercut. Volkov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Toney swivels and escapes. Volkov lands the left hand. Volkov connects with a crisp jab. Toney throws a left and a right that both miss
and Volkov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Volkov clobbers Toney with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Volkov fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Toney tries to move into range but Volkov moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

and Toney counters with a takedown into side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Sloppy strikes there by Toney. Toney in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Volkov defending against the ground and pound. Toney creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Volkov tries to bench press Toney off him but Toney keeps the position. Toney is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Volkov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Toney scoring with punches from side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Toney controls the position from side control. Toney wants to control but Volkov is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Toney scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Volkov to see if he's OK. Toney has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Toney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Volkov keeps working. Toney sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Volkov is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Volkov is not content to let Toney control the position. Toney goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Volkov rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Toney's guard! Nice work there by Volkov! Toney looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Toney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Toney is looking to advance position but Volkov won't allow it. Toney trying to control the action but Volkov is working from the bottom. Toney is thwarting Volkov's attempts to control the position. Volkov is refusing to be controlled, as Toney sits in half guard. Toney thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Volkov's head. Toney missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Toney trying to control from half guard but Volkov is working away. Toney not landing any meaningful shots this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Toney tries to pass the half guard into mount. Volkov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Toney wants to lay and pray for a moment but Volkov keeps working. Volkov wants to get back to full guard. Toney looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Toney takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Nice defenses there by Volkov. Toney throws a right hand that Volkov ducks under and follows up with a left that Volkov also avoids with ease. Toney gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Volkov feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Toneys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Toney stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Volkov. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Toney throws a jab but it's blocked by Volkov. Toney throws a predictable looking body shot
and Volkov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Toney throws a combination that misses and Volkov counters with an outside leg kick.
Toney misses with a hook. Volkov ducked under it nicely. Toney takes one to the chin there. Toney shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Volkov as he jumps to the side. Volkov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Toney moves away.

and Volkov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Toney misses with a double jab
and Volkov counters with a stiff right hand. Toney takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Toney bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Dmitry Volkov seems to be getting the better of the standup. Volkov misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Dmitry Volkov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Toney's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Toney is rocked! Volkov fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Toney has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Volkov lands with a slapping head kick. Oh Toney is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Angel Toney is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Toney lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Toney lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Volkov circles away quickly and effectively. Volkov scores with a punch to the head.

Toney is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Volkov! Toney is out on his feet! Volkov rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Toney is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Toney is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
