2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Hardy looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Emelianenko connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Hardy pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Emelianenko throws a head kick that half lands.
Emelianenko walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hardy checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Emelianenko keeps the fight on the outside. A slapping body kick lands there for Emelianenko. Hardy tries to clinch but Emelianenko is having none of it. Hardy closes the distance and clinches. Hardy misses with an elbow strike.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hardy creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Hardy pushes off an throws an elbow but Emelianenko leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Emelianenko blocks an elbow strike from Hardy.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hardy lands an elbow inside that Emelianenko shrugs off. Emelianenko is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Hardy throws a knee to the head but misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy tries to land knees in the clinch but Emelianenko avoids the damage to the body. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Hardy just misses with a elbow thrown towards Emelianenko's brow. Hardy lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
That has opened up Fedor Emelianenko's cut even more. A battle for position here, against the cage. Hardy throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

The cut above Fedor Emelianenko's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Hardy with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Splizka throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Carter's head. Carter dives in and grabs Splizka's left leg, looking for a takedown. Splizka pushes down on Carter's head and hops out. Splizka lands a big head kick that sends Carter tumbling to the mat! Splizka takes a step backwards and waves Carter back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Carter is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Carter takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Oh Carter is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Carter is breathing heavily. Carter walks forward, straight into a front kick from Splizka. Splizka looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Splizka throws a powerful right kick. Carter tried to block low but the kick was high! Carter was taken right off of his feet! Splizka jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Artur Splizka!
