16 - 9 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jesse Custer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Neil NaLeans! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Custer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Custer misses with a hook to the body
and NaLeans counters by moving into the clinch. NaLeans looking to throw knees to the head but Custer is blocking nicely.
Custer tries to circle away but NaLeans has him pinned against the cage. NaLeans lands a shoulder strike. Custer is trying to push NaLeans away but NaLeans has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. NaLeans throws a knee to the head but misses.
NaLeans lands a right hand that snaps the head of Custer backwards. NaLeans throws a knee to the head but misses.
Custer tries to circle away but NaLeans has him pinned against the cage. Custer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Custer works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Custer thows a leg kick but NaLeans checks it so NaLeans counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. NaLeans trying to control the position from guard on top but Custer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. NaLeans controlling from the top position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. NaLeans stops Custer from standing up. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

NaLeans decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. NaLeans is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Custer defends it well. Custer wants to get back to his feet. NaLeans thows a huge punch but Custer dodges it nicely.
NaLeans looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Custer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. NaLeans is looking for a kimura but Custer is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for NaLeans to get the leverage. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. NaLeans connects with a nice short shot to Custer's temple.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Custer is looking to escape. Custer pushes NaLeans off and gets back to his feet. Custer keeps the fight on the outside. Custer misses with an uppercut. NaLeans saw that one coming. Custer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from NaLeans.
NaLeans tries to clinch but Custer is having none of it. Custer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but NaLeans was well out of range. Poor timing from Custer. Custer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Custer fakes the leg kick and cracks NaLeans in the body. A lazy left from Custer finds it's target. Custer stuffs the takedown. NaLeans feints and as Custer raises his hands in defense, NaLeans changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. NaLeans prevents Custer from getting back to his feet. Custer trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. NaLeans lands a couple of elbows. Custer is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. NaLeans presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. NaLeans tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
NaLeans keeps control of Custer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. NaLeans is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Custer is defending well for now. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Custer creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. NaLeans using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Custer has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
NaLeans wants a takedown.
A frustrated look appears on Custer's face as he tries to break the clinch. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! NaLeans is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Custer is defending well. Jesse Custer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Neil NaLeans. NaLeans wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Custer has had enough of the clinch but NaLeans keeps him there for the moment. Neil NaLeans has got the better of the ground game so far. NaLeans controlling from side mount. NaLeans throws a strike aimed at the side of Custer's head but Custer avoids it well. NaLeans tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dubonet pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Birmiski darts in and clinches Dubonet up against the cage. Birmiski blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

That was a close round but I would say that Ari Birmiski will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
