Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruslan Smirnov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Lenny Nero! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Arvi Lind.

Nero is fending him off so far but Smirnov persists. Nope, Nero circles away and we're back to standing. The fighters circling - Nero throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Smirnov doesn't manage to clinch there - Nero circles away.
Smirnov fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Smirnov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nero sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smirnov somewhat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ruslan Smirnov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nero feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smirnovs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Smirnov shoots in and drives through. Nero sprawls well.

Smirnov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Nero counters with a lovely shot to the body. Smirnov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Nero circles away. Smirnov looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Nero cracks Smirnov with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Nero is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Smirnov.

Smirnov misses with a takedown and Nero counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smirnov thinking. Smirnov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smirnov dives in for a single leg takedown but Nero sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Nero is trying to break the clinch but Smirnov has him pressed against the cage. Smirnov is trying to drag Nero to the mat but Nero just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Nero breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Smirnov misses with a takedown attempt and Nero connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Smirnov misses with a takedown and Nero counters with a right hand to the body.
Nero gets caught napping as Smirnov dives in and scores a takedown. Nero manages to retain guard.
Nero is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Nero felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Smirnov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nero sees it coming and defends easily. Nero makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nero. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nero keeping moving, preventing Smirnov from controlling successfully. Nero wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Nero is trying to control the position from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smirnov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Lenny Nero will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Smirnov wants to control from the top but Nero keeps moving. Nero looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Smirnov controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Smirnov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Smirnov is pushing down on Nero's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nero is fighting to maintain full guard but Smirnov has managed to sneak the leg through. Nero is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Smirnov scores with a couple of nice shots. Smirnov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Smirnov is trying to pull guard but Nero turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Nice body punch from Nero. Smirnov is trying to drag Nero to the mat but Nero just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Smirnov changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Nero fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Nero slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nero jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Lenny Nero. I think Nero has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Bukovsky will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Bukovsky has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nesi down to the mat. Nesi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Bukovsky looks to throw the jab but Nesi is out of range. Nesi throws an overhand right that lands on Bukovsky's shoulder, as Bukovsky tries to avoid the shot.

Jab by Santoro. Santoro fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Rostowski looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rostowski with a poor takedown and Rostowski takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rostowski looking for a takedown here - he's got it. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Santoro keeping full guard, as Rostowski tries to pass. Santoro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Santoro had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rostowski defends it easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Santoro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Matsushita has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Matsushita connects with an inside leg kick. Matsushita throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Matsushita tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Tapout has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Tapout looks to clinch and Matsushita makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Tapout manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Matsushita manages to get himself to full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Pyry Perkele will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Bong Ki Duk's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Perkele is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ki Duk. Ki Duk lands a nice shot to the body.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pyry Perkele will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Bong Ki Duk's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Ki Duk has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Perkele finds it's way round the side to connect with Ki Duk's head. Perkele just misses with a punch to the body.

Perkele lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ki Duk takes one on the button. Perkele throws the left hand but Ki Duk avoids the punch easily. Ki Duk feints a jab promting Perkele to slip. Ki Duk then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Perkele slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Ki Duk tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Perkele throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ki Duk tries to move into range but Perkele moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Perkele lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Bong Ki Duk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ki Duk jabs Perkele to the body, keeping him at a distance. Perkele's corner calls for a 1-2. Perkele obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
And that's the end of the fight! Pyry Perkele showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Perkele, winning every round. Will the judges agree? El Bunt misses with a wild body shot. El Bunt lands a head kick. Kerhley smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Kerhley has his takedown stuffed and El Bunt makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlton Kerhley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kerhley walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. El Bunt swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Carlton Kerhley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kerhley fails miserably with a takedown attempt. El Bunt ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kerhley moves away. Kerhley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

El Bunt wants to control but Kerhley postures up. El Bunt is looking to reverse the position. El Bunt manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kerhley thows a huge punch but El Bunt dodges it nicely.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlton Kerhley. That's going to take a lot out of him. El Bunt displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kerhley. El Bunt moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Kerhley doesn't succeed with the takedown and El Bunt counters with an inside leg kick. Kerhley just misses with a punch to the body.

El Bunt closes the distance and pushes Kerhley back into the cage. El Bunt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Kerhley backwards. El Bunt misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kerhley.
El Bunt creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Both fighters working to control the clinch. El Bunt digs a right hand underneath Kerhley's ribcage. Kerhley let out a lung full of air as it connected. A nice right hand lands inside from El Bunt. El Bunt throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kerhleys head.
