The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Messi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hernandez tries to avoid it but Messi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hernandez to the ground. Hernandez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hernandez takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hernandez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hernandez shoots in and bounces Messi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Messi is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Messi wants to sweep here but Hernandez controlling him for the moment. Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hernandez throwing strikes but missing. Messi manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Messi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Hernandez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hernandez misses with a takedown and Messi counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Messi wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving. Messi preventing the sweep. Messi throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Messi gets to his feet. Hernandez looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Hernandez lands with a slapping head kick. Messi tries to clinch but Hernandez moves away and Hernandez counters with a single leg into guard. Messi didn't expect that. Hernandez is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Messi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hernandez has picked Messi up and slammed him! Messi can't keep hold of the triangle and Hernandez manages to pass to side control! Messi manages to work his way to half guard, despite Hernandez's best efforts. Hernandez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Messi keeps working. Messi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Hernandez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Messi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hernandez has managed to get both his arms back between Messi's legs - danger averted.

Messi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hernandez passes Messi's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hernandez is keen to just control but Messi is a slippery customer. Messi is looking to improve his position.
Hernandez decides to stand up. Messi tries to clinch but Hernandez moves out of range. Hernandez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Messi wants to control but Hernandez is keeping busy.

Messi has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hernandez is working away from the top position though.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Da Silva is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Tshabalala. Da Silva shoots in but Tshabalala avoids the takedown attempt easily. Tshabalala fails with an attempt to clinch.
Da Silva is looking to chop away at Tshabalala's legs. Da Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tshabalala's waist but Tshabalala gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Da Silva off to one side. Tshabalala scores with a kick to the midsection. Da Silva is breathing heavily. Tshabalala takes the fight into the clinch. Tshabalala working hard to break the clinch. Tshabalala is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tshabalala wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Despite being in the dominant position, Siphiwe Tshabalala just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Tshabalala feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Da Silva's calf. Tshabalala tries to clinch but Da Silva moves out of range. Tshabalala moves into range and clinches up with Da Silva. Tshabalala breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Tshabalala closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tshabalala lands in his opponent's guard. Gonzalez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Greene.
Greene shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Gonzalez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Greene wants to control from the top but Gonzalez keeps moving. Gonzalez pulls Greene in close to his closed guard and prevents Greene from doing any damage or advancing position. Greene has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Gonzalez to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Greene is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Gonzalez pulls down on the head and he's put Greene to sleep! This one is all over!
