The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Simson wants to pass the guard but Flynn is keeping the position. Simson passes into half guard. Ground and pound from Simson. Simson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Flynn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Simson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Flynn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Simson seems to be working for a kimura but Flynn defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Simson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Flynn knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Simson on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Flynn pushes Simson off looking to stand but Simson dives back in and keeps control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Flynn keeps working. Simson works his foot free and advances to mount. Simson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vantrell gets the takedown into side control. Vantrell in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Vantrell trying to control the action but Shine is working from the bottom. Shine tries to bench press Vantrell off him but Vantrell keeps the position. Shine managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Vantrell.
Shine is trying to control Vantrell's posture but Vantrell avoids it. Shine might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Vantrell haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. You can see the frustration on Shine's face as Vantrell controls the position. Vantrell tries to score with some ground and pound. Shine controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Vantrell controlling from side mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vantrell is looking to take a break and control but Shine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shine manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Vantrell passes the guard and advances to mount! Vantrell avoids the attempt from Shine to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Shine that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Vantrell throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Shine because Vantrell loaded up on that one. Vantrell trying to control but he's not successful this time. Vantrell misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Vantrell lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Shine hang on? Vantrell wants to control the pace but Shine is squirming around nicely. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vantrell avoids the attempt from Shine to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vantrell cracks Shine with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Vantrell lands a heavy elbow. Shine is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Shine is rocked! Shine takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Vantrell's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez fails with a takedown attempt. Gatti looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sanchez fails in his attempt to clinch. Sanchez slaps away a takedown attempt from Gatti, before circling back to the center of the mat. Sanchez scores with a takedown into Gatti's guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Sanchez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Sanchez distracts Gatti with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Gatti looking for a sweep. Not yet Gatti, not yet. Sanchez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gatti, up you get! Sanchez moves in looking to clinch but Gatti pushes him off. Sanchez fails with the takedown. Gatti misses with a jab, cross combination.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sanchez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gatti, who protects the arm well. Gatti knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pistol tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Armstrong paws at him with a jab and circles away. Pistol tries to clinch and Armstrong cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Pistol tries to clinch but Armstrong moves away and Armstrong counters with a lovely straight right hand!
