Bark tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bernstein defends well and Bark ends up having to push Bernstein into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bate lands a slapping body shot.
Burns connects with a solid leg kick.
Burns uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bate.

and Burns counters with a low kick, right behind Bate 's knee.
Burns avoids the body shot from Bate.
Bate throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Burns sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Burns counters with an outside leg kick.

Burns moves out of range as Bate strikes.
Bate shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Burns sprawls well. Burns wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bate gets slowly back to his feet.

Burns tries to bum rush Bate with a series of wild strikes but Bate uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Burns counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Horrible takedown by Bate or perhaps it was just good defense by Burns which made him look bad.
Burns looks to score with a jab to the body but Bate is just out of range.
Bate connects with a crisp jab.
Burns uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bate.
Bate jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Bate dives in for a single leg takedown but Burns sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Burns is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bate takes a swing at Burns's ribcage but misses.
Burns keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bate misses with a hook. Burns ducked under it nicely.
Burns misses with a wild combination.
Bate lands with a shot to the body.

and Burns counters with a stiff right hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Burns takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Bate ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Burns moves away.

Burns bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Burns missing with a left hand there. Bate was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Burns takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Bate scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bate is working to tighten his grip on Burns's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Burns has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bate is really squeezing tight and eventually Burns passes out! Bate breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

In his post fight interview, Tyrone Bate started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
