Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tony Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Huerta! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Chris Saunders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith tries to clinch up but Huerta circles away and keeps his distance. Smith has his takedown stuffed and Huerta counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Huerta, pushing him back against the cage. Smith drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Huerta gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Smith jumps guard.
Smith trying to keep a closed guard but Huerta is proving a slippery customer.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Huerta on the ground. Huerta postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Huerta stopping the sweep attempt from Smith. Huerta avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Huerta throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Smith is looking for a triangle but Huerta pushes his legs off easily.

Huerta is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Smith is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Smith has escaped and now he's on top! Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Huerta gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith keeping moving, preventing Huerta from controlling successfully. Huerta drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Smith manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Huerta has Smith in his guard. Huerta working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith. Huerta trying to keep a closed guard but Smith is proving a slippery customer.
Huerta wants to improve his position but instead Smith has moved into half guard.
Smith works his foot free and advances to mount. Smith moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Huerta has worked his arm free - good work by Huerta!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Huerta is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it. Smith swings around for an armbar but Huerta sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard. Huerta drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Huerta off! Huerta jumps back into Smith's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Huerta's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Huerta distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Huerta throws a big right hand that misses. Smith throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Huerta stands up over Smith, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Smith is controlling Huerta's posture. Huerta trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Smith throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Huerta drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard. Smith will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Huerta looking for a guillotine here but Smith defends easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Smith wants to get up but he can't break Huerta's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Paul Huerta will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Huerta swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Smith shoots and misses and Huerta counters with a two punch combo. Smith takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Huerta's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Huerta duly obliges.
It looks like Tony Smith has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Huerta keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Smith slips a jab and a cross from Huerta.
Smith fails in his attempt to clinch. Huerta has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Smith is landing a low percentage of strikes. Smith throws a shot from downtown. Huerta moves away and avoids it. Smith shoots and misses and Huerta counters with a straight right hand. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith fails with the takedown and Huerta counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smith thinking. Huerta closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Smith's guard. Huerta wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Huerta drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith! Huerta sneaks out the side door and pushes Smith away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Smith is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Huerta. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Smith looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Huerta stuns Smith with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Huerta throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Smith stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Smith takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Paul Huerta seems to be getting the better of the standup. Smith tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Huerta manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Smith throws a sloppy head kick and Huerta moves out of range easily. Smith with a lazy takedown attempt and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Huerta misses with a few strikes there.

Huerta lands a two punch combo.
Huerta tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Smith fails with the takedown and Huerta counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Huerta.
Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown and Smith takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Tony Smith's cut is getting worse. Huerta is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Smith rather than just go for the knockout. Huerta feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Huerta changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Huerta keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head. Smith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Paul Huerta has got the better of the ground game so far. Huerta is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Smith is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.

Paul Huerta showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Tony Smith's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Huerta is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Huerta drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Huerta seems to have locked his on tight now - Smith screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Huerta, as he picks up the win!

It looks like Silas Nova has been cut. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Wait, as that shot connected.

Nova checks a leg kick nicely. Nova looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wait manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Wait lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Nova takes a body punch but keeps moving. Wait ducks under a wild hook from Nova. Nova throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nova walks into a left hand. Danny Wait is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wait feints a jab promting Nova to slip. Wait then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Nova slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Wait scores with a jab. Nova acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Wait jabs at Nova's body. Nova is breathing heavily. Nova takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wait cracks Nova with an open hand slap. Nova seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Wait's jab looks to have found its range, popping Nova under the eye.
Nova is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wait plants his feet and throws a 3 punch combo. Miss, miss, boom! The third punch, a big right hook, connects right on the temple and drops Nova to the mat, unconscious! This fight is all over! Nova just couldn't keep out of the way of the whole flurry of punches!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Danny Wait! After winning the bout, Danny Wait thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.

We've been hearing reports that Paris has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Atay doesn't succeed with the takedown and Paris counters with a left to the body. Atay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Paris looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Paris tries to kick Atay off but Atay keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Paris is looking to improve his position.

Atay tries to bench press Paris off him but Paris keeps the position. Paris wants to control but Atay is keeping him busy. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Atay is trying to get back to his feet. Paris lands some shots froms side control. Paris advances nicely into full mount. Paris jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Atay manages to avoid the submission attempt. Paris scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Atay to see if he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paris tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Paris has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Paris is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Atay looks calm but he's in trouble here. Paris gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Atay is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Paris lets go of the hold and Atay can pop his arm back in it's socket.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Urutaka manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Pitbull on his heels. He'll look to pass Pitbull's guard now, I'm sure. Pitbull is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Urutaka has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pitbull is proving hard to escape from. Pitbull is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pitbull is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pitbull escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Urutaka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pitbull working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Urutaka doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Pitbull is tightening it up a little... Urutaka has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Urutaka reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Urutaka taps out! Nice BJJ there by Pitbull!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barnett drives through with a takedown into Diaz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Diaz kicks Barnett off and gets to his feet. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Diaz has cracked Barnett with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Diaz lands another huge swinging hook and Barnett tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Barnett, before Diaz can land any more shots!

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brandon Bronson! The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn tries for a takedown but Bronson circles away easily and Bronson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bronson. Penn has hold of one of Bronson's legs. Bronson is fighting the takedown attempt but Penn gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Bronson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Penn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Penn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Penn sitting in guard, not really doing much. Penn wants to control from the top but Bronson keeps moving. Bronson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Penn is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronson has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Penn has passed into side control.
Penn thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Bronson is looking for a sweep. Bronson can't do much from the bottom here. Penn trying to control the position but Bronson is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bronson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Penn tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Bronson is not content to let Penn control the position. Penn will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Penn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn trying to control the position but Bronson is working away. Penn is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bronson's shoulder. That is not cool. Penn tries to move to mount but Bronson blocks the move with his legs. Penn working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Bronson tries to bench press Penn off him but Penn keeps the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronson keeps trying to improve his position. Penn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bronson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Penn swings around for an armbar but Bronson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Penn's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JayDee Penn dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bronson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Penn fails with a takedown attempt. Penn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bronson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Penn somewhat. Bronson moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Bronson misses with a head kick.
Bronson has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JayDee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him. Penn shoots in and drives through. Bronson sprawls well. Penn shoots in for a takedown but Bronson shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronson lands the left hand. Penn shoots and misses and Bronson makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. We've been told by Penn's head coaches at Blitzkrieg Fighting Systems: Ground that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. No luck with that takedown attempt from Penn. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Bronson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Penn at a distance.
Bronson misses with a two punch combination.
Penn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bronson sprawls well. Bronson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Penn gets slowly back to his feet. Bronson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bronson manages to break the clinch.
Bronson scores with a hook.
It looks like JayDee Penn has been cut. Penn dives in for a single leg takedown but Bronson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bronson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bronson stalling in the clinch but Penn improves position. Bronson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Bronson displaying some good clinch control by pressing Penn up against the cage. Bronson is looking to control Penn's arms but Penn gets an underhook and turns him. Now Bronson has his back to the cage. Bronson unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bronson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Bronson connects with the punch. Penn tries to keep at a distance but Bronson has taken the fight into the clinch. Penn wants to take the fight to the mat but Bronson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Bronson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Penn.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Bronson. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. A short uppercut from Bronson. Penn is looking to take this one to the mat. Bronson is defending well against a takedown attempt. Bronson is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. A hook to the body from Bronson.
Bronson is trying to stall.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bronson stalling in the clinch.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Brandon Bronson. A momentary lapse in concentration from Penn enables Bronson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Penn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Penn has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Bronson doesn't defend quickly enough and Penn has managed to lock this one up! Can Bronson escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Penn on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). JayDee Penn! JayDee Penn was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaufmore shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dummy pinned against the cage. Dummy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Good work by Kaufmore as he checks the leg kick. Dummy misses with a double jab.
Kaufmore fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nice sprawl there from Dummy as Kaufmore shoots in. Kaufmore shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dummy defends it nicely. Grap Dummy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeff Kaufmore. Dummy looking to score a takedown here. Kaufmore is defending well but Dummy drives through and ends up in Kaufmore's guard.
