These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Master Chef Hesienburg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johan Kallis! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kallis thumps Hesienburg with a low kick. Kallis avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A looping hook to the body misses from Hesienburg. Kallis does a little dance to reset his feet. Kallis moves out of range of the strikes. A nice inside leg kick there by Kallis. That's going to slow Hesienburg down. Hesienburg throws a shot from downtown. Kallis moves away and avoids it. Hesienburg lands a big uppercut and Kallis crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Kallis looks OK. Hesienburg waves Kallis back to his feet!

It looks like Johan Kallis has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hesienburg instigates a clinch. Kallis is still on wobbly legs! Can Hesienburg finish him? Hesienburg tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kallis seems to have recovered his senses. Kallis throws a punch but it's blocked by Hesienburg. Kallis tries to break the clinch but Hesienburg is controlling the position. A head punch blocked on the inside by Kallis. Kallis wants to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hesienburg ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Hesienburg no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Hesienburg is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Hesienburg has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Kallis doesn't defend quickly enough and Hesienburg has managed to lock this one up! Can Kallis escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Hesienburg on a fantastic submission victory.

Wexler takes a swing at Kalachnikov's ribcage but misses. Wexler smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Wexler cracks Kalachnikov with a right hand to the side of the head. Wexler lands with a cross. Kalachnikov on the wrong end of a nice hook. Kalachnikov walks into a stiff left hand from Wexler. Wexler scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Wexler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wexler misses with a head shot. Kalachnikov uses the momentum to regain guard. Kalachnikov really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wexler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kalachnikov keeping moving, preventing Wexler from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Wexler tries for a takedown but Kalachnikov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Wexler just misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Wexler bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kalachnikov's head. Wexler cracks Kalachnikov with a right hand to the side of the head. Wexler throws a big shot that misses. Wexler fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kalachnikov avoids it really well and circles away. Kalachnikov stuffs the takedown attempt from Wexler. Wexler gets slowly back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Kalachnikov moves away from the strike by Wexler.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wexler looking to score a takedown here. Kalachnikov is defending well but Wexler drives through and ends up in Kalachnikov's guard. Kalachnikov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Wexler won't allow Kalachnikov to sweep him here. Kalachnikov looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Kalachnikov controls Wexler momentarily but Wexler frees himself. Kalachnikov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Chad Wexler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kalachnikov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Wexler working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Wexler's corner is telling him to maintain position. Kalachnikov wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kalachnikov being controlled here, momentarily. Nikita Kalachnikov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Kalachnikov takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
