Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Hoffmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fredrik Persson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Persson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Johnny Cash - Rusty cage. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fredrik Persson! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Persson fails with a takedown attempt. Hoffmann fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Persson manages to avoid it. Hoffmann scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Hoffmann throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Hoffmann avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Persson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Persson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Persson prevents Hoffmann from standing back up.
Persson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hoffmann doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Persson. Persson prevents Hoffmann from improving his position. Hoffmann is pressing down on Persson's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hoffmann tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hoffmann wants to get back to his feet but Persson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hoffmann wants to sweep here but Persson controlling him for the moment.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hoffmann misses with a two punch combination.
Persson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Persson takes a kick to the side of the head.
 It looks like Fredrik Persson has been cut. Persson doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoffmann circles away.

Klaus Hoffmann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fredrik Persson. Hoffmann misses with a wild combination.
Hoffmann tries to bum rush Persson with a series of wild strikes but Persson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Klaus Hoffmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Persson blocks a head kick by Hoffmann.

The crowd cheers as Hoffmann lands an impressive looking overhand right. Persson doesn't seem phased though. Hoffmann closes the distance and lands a one-two. Persson looks gassed! Hoffmann connects with the punch. Persson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hoffmann sprawls well. Hoffmann wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Persson gets slowly back to his feet. Hoffmann with a jab. Hoffmann is looking to slow Persson down with leg kicks.

Persson takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hoffmann. Hoffmann throws a right hand that Persson ducks under and follows up with a left that Persson also avoids with ease. Hoffmann tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Klaus Hoffmann is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hoffmann lands a head kick. Persson smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Persson avoids the head kick by Hoffmann.
Persson takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Hoffmann thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Persson if he has to take too many more of those.
Hoffmann rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Persson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hoffmann throws a head kick that Persson semi-blocks.
Hoffmann moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Hoffmann cracks the inside of Persson's front leg. A head kick misses from Hoffmann.

Hoffmann rushes Persson and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Hoffmann pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hoffmann lets loose with a powerful body kick. Persson will feel that in the morning. Persson blocks a head kick by Hoffmann.
Hoffmann connects with a nice looking jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hoffmann lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Persson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hoffmann fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hoffmann feints and then cracks Persson's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Persson down. Hoffmann scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Persson takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Klaus Hoffmann dominated that round. The cut man is working on Fredrik Persson's cut. That's time! Hoffmann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hoffmann smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Hoffmann pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hoffmann lands with a kick to the temple. Persson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Hoffmann uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Nice body kick there by Hoffmann. A combination from Hoffmann does no damage. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Persson. Klaus Hoffmann is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hoffmann scores with a leg kick.
Klaus Hoffmann is winning the standup battle so far. Hoffmann throws a series of punches but Persson avoids them all with ease. Hoffmann cracks a nice hook into Persson's ribs. A good leg kick by Hoffmann. Persson is breathing heavily. Hoffmann lands an overhand right. Hoffmann stalks Persson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Persson's face. Persson staggers backwards, shaken. Some wild striking there from Hoffmann.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Crunch! Hoffmann slams his shin into Persson's torso. Hoffmann throws a combination. Persson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Persson on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Persson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Hoffmann lands with a good body shot. Hoffmann throws a series of strikes that have Persson backpedaling.
Hoffmann throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hoffmann looks to land a combination. Persson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Persson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hoffmann - the referee stops the clock and Persson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hoffmann. Persson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Persson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Hoffmann dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Persson. That did some damage! Persson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoffmann.
Hoffmann is working the combinations to good effect here. Persson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hoffmann to score with a decent uppercut.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hoffmann plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Hoffmann scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. A head kick from Hoffmann lands but Persson takes it in his stride. Persson blocks a head kick by Hoffmann.
Hoffmann moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Persson takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
 Persson is rocked! Hoffmann misses with a head kick.
Persson is still on wobbly legs! Can Hoffmann finish him? Hoffmann connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Hoffmann lands a big head kick that sends Persson to the canvas! Hoffmann follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Maia shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Maia scores with a takedown into Jones's guard. Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones keeping full guard, as Maia tries to pass. Jones wants to get back to his feet but Maia passes into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Maia is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

 It looks like Nate Brown has been cut. The fighters circle momentarily. Booth darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Booth throws a looping overhand right but Brown ducks down to avoid it. Booth drops Brown with a big left hand! Brown is injured, injured bad! Booth jumps in and finished him with strikes! The fight is over!

Reznor feints and as Pirolla raises his hands in defense, Reznor changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Reznor is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Reznor drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reznor jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Reznor is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Reznor won't allow Pirolla to get back to his feet.
