The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Robinson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Trevor Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Delo Santos uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Pearmine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Delo Santos tries to avoid it but Pearmine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Delo Santos to the ground. Delo Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A decent looking cross lands there for Delo Santos.
Delo Santos stuns Pearmine with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Hammer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Shields pulls Wietrzny in close to prevent any damage.

Shields is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shields is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Wietrzny content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Shields has locked up a guillotine! Shields's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wietrzny is holding on here and Shields must be using up a lot of energy. Wietrzny has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Shields gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Overeem throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Lesnar shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Overeem manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Overeem on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Overeem tries to get out of the position.
