20 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Duece Delta! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Darnielle! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Delta fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Delta shoots in for a takedown but Darnielle shows good takedown defense. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Delta looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Darnielle! Delta tries for a kimura but Darnielle is defending well. Delta goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Darnielle has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Delta but great work by Darnielle. Delta is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Hilo Training Center, so we'll see if he gets out of it. Delta is looking to regain half guard here but Darnielle keeps moving and retains side control. Darnielle has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Darnielle paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Darnielle lands with a right hand. Delta walks into a straight right hand from Darnielle.
Delta is rocked! Darnielle is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Darnielle dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Oh Delta is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Delta doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Darnielle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Delta misses with a takedown enabling Darnielle to counter with a crisp jab. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Duece Delta. That's going to take a lot out of him. Darnielle has closed the distance and engaged Delta in a clinch.
Darnielle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. John Darnielle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Delta changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Darnielle tries to avoid it but Delta manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Darnielle to the ground. Darnielle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Delta seems to have got his legs back now. A jab from Darnielle finds it's way through Delta's defenses. Delta keeps the fight on the outside. Darnielle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Delta manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Darnielle lands a nice shot to the body.
Delta has a takedown stuffed. Darnielle thuds a left hand into Delta's body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Delta tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Darnielle paws at him with a jab and circles away. Delta looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Delta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Darnielle pinned against the cage. Darnielle gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A left and a right from Darnielle both land. Nice combination. Delta tries to score a power double leg takedown but Darnielle sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Delta somewhat. Delta decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Darnielle has his hands clasped together around Delta's back. He's all about the action. Delta is working for a kimura but Darnielle is defending it quite comfortably.
Darnielle keeping hold of Delta's head, controlling as best he can. Delta is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round. Darnielle seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Delta accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Darnielle working a defensive guard here.

Delta shoots in for a takedown but Darnielle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Delta shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Darnielle pinned against the cage. Delta shoots in looking for a takedown but Darnielle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Delta's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. John Darnielle seems to be getting the better of the standup. Darnielle ducks down and throws a hook to the body. A shot to the liver by Darnielle. Beautiful body shot. Darnielle throws a combination. Delta tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Darnielle swinging wildly here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Darnielle lands a nice looking kick to the body. Delta takes a step back to recover. Darnielle throws a good cross that connects.
Darnielle feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Delta's calf. Darnielle connects with a leg kick. Delta looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Delta avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Darnielle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Delta moves away. Delta with a lazy takedown attempt and Darnielle counters with a two punch combo. Darnielle clinches up against the cage. Darnielle is pressed up against the cage. Delta has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Darnielle down to the mat. Darnielle avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Darnielle clobbers Delta with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Darnielle displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Delta. Darnielle turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Delta fails with a takedown attempt. Darnielle gets a clinch. Darnielle tries to throw a body punch but Delta avoids it by throwing Darnielle back against the cage. Nice body punch from Darnielle. Darnielle manages to break the clinch.
Delta takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Darnielle throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Left hook, right uppercut from Darnielle. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Delta gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Darnielle gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Delta is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Landstrimma checks the leg kick. Landstrimma wants to slow Hiligaynon down by chopping away at his legs. Landstrimma throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hiligaynon sees it coming and avoids it easily. Landstrimma misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hiligaynon lunges at Landstrimma with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Landstrimma's hand. Landstrimma checks a leg kick nicely. Landstrimma throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Nice jab there from Hiligaynon. A left lands for Hiligaynon. Hiligaynon scores with a jab to the jaw. Hiligaynon is looking to chop away at Landstrimma's legs. Landstrimma shoots in and bounces Hiligaynon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! YES! He's tapped! Landstrimma picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reinhardt fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hall takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hall keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A low kick from Hall misses and Reinhardt counters with a big head kick but Hall shrugs it off. Reinhardt needs to keep his hands up - Hall had a free shot at his head there. A big right from Reinhardt misses. Reinhardt tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hall is able to avoid easily. Reinhardt wants to land a leg kick but Hall is out of range. The fight moves into the clinch position. Reinhardt blocks an uppercut.
Reinhardt throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Hall working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hall lands a body shot in the clinch.

Hall pushes Reinhardt away with a front kick. Sloppy strikes from Hall. Those never looked like landing. Hall doesn't manage to clinch there - Reinhardt circles away.

Reinhardt scores with a punch to the head. Reinhardt displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hall throws out the jab. Hall throws a chopping leg kick but Reinhardt manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Hall takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Michael Hall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hall throws a hook to the side of Reinhardt's head but Reinhardt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Reinhardt. Reinhardt throws a looping overhand right but Hall ducks down to avoid it. Reinhardt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A head kick by Reinhardt misses and Hall counters with a stiff right hand. Reinhardt bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Reinhardt misses with a leg kick. Reinhardt takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Reinhardt gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hall throws a jab but it's blocked by Reinhardt. Reinhardt throws a lazy right hand but Hall sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hall checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Hall misses with an attempted mid kick.
Hall jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hall tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reinhardt thows a left - swing and a miss! Hall slips under a jab from Reinhardt. Reinhardt fails to land the takedown. Reinhardt misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hall.
Hall tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hall throws a low kick but Reinhardt moves out of range easily. Reinhardt walks into a stiff left hand from Hall. Michael Hall seems to be getting the better of the standup. Reinhardt throws a sloppy head kick and Hall moves out of range easily. Hall bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Reinhardt doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Reinhardt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hall finds it's way round the side to connect with Reinhardt's head. Hall wants to slow Reinhardt down by chopping away at his legs. Hall misses with a wild combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Reinhardt fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hall manages to avoid it. Reinhardt thumps Hall with a low kick. Reinhardt shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Hall eats them both and turns towards Reinhardt to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Reinhardt dives in for a single leg takedown but Hall sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Reinhardt lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Reinhardt breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hall tests Reinhardt's chin there with a solid looking shot. Hall punishes Reinhardt's body with a nice straight punch. Hall connects with a jab.

M J Shain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Romero shoots in for a double leg but Shain sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Romero with a lazy takedown attempt and Shain counters with a stiff right hand. Shain pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Romero has been working on his boxing with his coaches at TAP ROOT -/- 10 Coaches / Great Sparring / Value in the buildup to the fight. Shain chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Romero wants to clinch but Shain slips to the side and Shain counters with a three punch combo that has Romero backing up. Romero nods at Shain to acknowledge the strikes. It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
