Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eugene Bradley Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akisame Hikaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Burns comes to the ring accompanied by Fedor Entrance Song . Hikaru is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ultimate Battle. Akisame Hikaru will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 22 - 1, fighting out of London, Eugene Bradley Burns!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Akisame Hikaru!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hikaru takes a swing at Burns's ribcage but misses.
Hikaru connects with a body shot.

Hikaru gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Burns to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Burns in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Burns trying to control the position from guard on top but Hikaru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Burns pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hikaru is keeping the position for now.
Burns sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hikaru's guard.
Burns takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Burns will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Burns throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Hikaru is trying to maintain the position but Burns is very close to passing his half guard.
Hikaru is looking for a sweep. Burns is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Burns thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hikaru's head.

Hikaru felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Hikaru is in trouble now - Burns has advanced to mount!
Burns with shots to the head and body - Hikaru looks very uncomfortable down there.
Burns tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hikaru avoids a series of strikes thrown by Burns.
Hikaru is trying to escape the mount.

Burns controlling the position easily from mount.
Hikaru is trying to escape the mount.
The referee warns Hikaru that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Burns lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hikaru hang on?

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Burns can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hikaru is looking to escape.
Hikaru sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Burns is thwarting Hikaru's attempts to control the position.
Hikaru is trying to get back to full guard.
Burns tries to pass to full mount but Hikaru defends it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hikaru finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Hikaru displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Burns throws out the jab.
Hikaru tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Burns manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Burns missing with a left hand there. Hikaru was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Burns misses with a takedown attempt
and Hikaru counters with a stiff right hand.
Burns swats away the attempt to clinch by Hikaru.
Burns tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hikaru swivels and escapes.
Burns connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Burns fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hikaru sprawls well initially but Burns persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Hikaru wants to control but Burns is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Burns is trying to control. Hikaru wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hikaru wants to control but Burns is keeping busy.
Burns works his way into full mount!
Hikaru tries to lock up and control but Burns gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hikaru might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Burns haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Burns landing strikes, looking to finish!
Hikaru is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hikaru really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Burns throwing strikes but Hikaru bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.

Burns pushes a forearm under Hikaru's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hikaru is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Eugene Bradley Burns!
Eugene Bradley Burns is the new middleweight champion!
Post fight, an emotional Eugene Bradley Burns said 'I've had an amazing career, and I love my training partners and the whole Burns family and everyone else. 170 feels great to me, I finally have a size advantage instead of being tiny. CANADA BABY WEEOOO!'.
The defeated Akisame Hikaru had this to say: 'Burnnnnnssss!!!!!!'.
