The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bear tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but King swivels and escapes.
King misses with a combination
and Bear counters with a left and a right that stings King.
Bear shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Bear's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
King throws a series of strikes that have Bear backpedaling.

It looks like Jer Bear has been cut.
King throws a combination that misses

and Bear counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bear pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bear throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Ryan King has been cut.
Bear moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Bear throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

and Bear counters with a shoot takedown. King fights it but they end up in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters are working up against the cage. King manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Bear is trying to push King away but King has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Bear breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Bear! King is out on his feet! Bear rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - King is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! King is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Hjelmslev has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
