Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
25 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Curtis Sharp! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blake Axe! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Darius Henderson and Ron Honeybunn.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sharp lands a really nice looking cross but Axe seems unphased.
We've been told by Sharp's head coaches at Madz that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sharp feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Axe's calf. Sharp tries to score a power double leg takedown but Axe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sharp somewhat. Sharp throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Axe stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Sharp comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Axe takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Sharp looks to land a left hand but Axe moved out of range nicely. Sharp will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Axe tries to bum rush Sharp with a series of wild strikes but Sharp uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sharp jabs at Axe's body. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Axe thows a body shot but no joy. Sharp swings for the body but Axe moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. A slapping leg kick lands for Sharp.
Axe avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Axe fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Axe slips a jab from Sharp. Sharp dodges the punch combination from Axe.
Sharp lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Sharp works Axe's body with a nice hook. Axe avoids the head kick by Sharp.
Sharp connects with a good right hand that stumbles Axe. Axe circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sharp cracks Axe with a hook to the temple - Axe is on wobbly legs here! Sharp swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Axe falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Sharp wins by TKO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lurendrejer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kirijenko tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Kirijenko avoids the head kick by Lurendrejer.
Kirijenko misses with a hook. Lurendrejer leaves Kirijenko with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. No luck with that takedown attempt from Kirijenko. Kirijenko steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lurendrejer. Lurendrejer drives through and clinches with Kirijenko against the cage.

Kirijenko stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Lurendrejer.

Kirijenko ducks under a wild hook from Lurendrejer. Lurendrejer gets caught flat footed, as Kirijenko shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Lurendrejer wants to stand and escape but Kirijenko is having none of it. Kirijenko told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Lurendrejer wants to sweep but no luck. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lurendrejer is trying to maintain the position but Kirijenko is very close to passing his half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kirijenko not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Kirijenko stalling away here and it's allowed Lurendrejer to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lurendrejer looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Lurendrejer moves in looking to clinch but Kirijenko pushes him off. Kirijenko looks to land a combination but Lurendrejer avoids it well. Lurendrejer on the wrong end of a nice hook. Kirijenko lands with an overhand left. Lurendrejer throws a sloppy head kick and Kirijenko moves out of range easily. Lurendrejer walks into a left hand. Kirijenko shoots in for a takedown. Kirijenko throws a nice looking combination but Lurendrejer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kirijenko swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kirijenko takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Lurendrejer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Lurendrejer buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kirijenko misses with a leg kick and Lurendrejer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Kirijenko closes the distance and lands a one-two. Kirijenko lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Kirijenko is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lurendrejer. Kirijenko closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lurendrejer circles away. Shananigan Lurendrejer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyov Kirijenko. A swing and a miss from Lurendrejer. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. He's pushed Kirijenko's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Kirijenko shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lurendrejer pinned against the cage. Lurendrejer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Lurendrejer looks to throw the jab but Kirijenko is out of range. Kirijenko misses with a straight left. Lurendrejer lands with a hook. Kirijenko tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Lurendrejer just misses with a punch to the body.

Kirijenko takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Lurendrejer moves out of range as Kirijenko strikes. Nice defenses there by Lurendrejer. Lurendrejer is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kirijenko walks into a stiff left hand from Lurendrejer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kirijenko looks to land a right hand but Lurendrejer moved out of range. Kirijenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Lurendrejer won't allow Kirijenko to sweep him here. Lurendrejer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Lurendrejer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Lurendrejer trying to control but Kirijenko is working from the bottom. Kirijenko is looking for a triangle here but Lurendrejer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The strikes coming from Lurendrejer are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Lyov Kirijenko has got the better of the ground game so far. Kirijenko is working to avoid the ground and pound but Lurendrejer connects with a decent elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

And that's the end of the fight! Shananigan Lurendrejer showed his dominance in that final round. Well Lurendrejer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. The strikes coming from Brennan are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Brennan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. I was talking to Nuclear's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Sparta is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Sparta lands a nice elbow. Nuclear scores a nice knee to the body.

Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Chandler arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
