The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ronson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bernards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Bernard tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ronson defends well and Bernard ends up having to push Ronson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Bernard holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Ronson is working for takedown but Bernard is calmly controlling the position for now. Bernard blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bernard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bernard fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ronson, pushing him back against the cage. Bernard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ronson uses from the top position. Bernard seems keen to control Ronson's posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ronson wants to control from the top but Bernard keeps moving. Ronson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bernard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ronson has managed to get both his arms back between Bernard's legs - danger averted. Ronson pushes down on Bernard's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Bernard is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ronson stuns Bernard with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ronson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Ronson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Bernard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bernard postures up in Ronson's guard and throws a big left but Ronson blocks it. Bernard trying to control the position from guard on top but Ronson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. This has been an exciting period of action! Ronson trying to keep a closed guard but Bernard is proving a slippery customer.
Ronson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Bernard haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Ronson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Bernard should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ronson has tightened it up now! Bernard should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

After the fight, Max Ronson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
