The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berg slips a jab from Amudeng. Berg dives in for a single leg takedown but Amudeng sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Amudeng is trying to pull guard but Berg turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Amudeng blocks an elbow strike. Berg gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Amudeng tries to roll over but Berg keeps him under control. Berg wants to stand but Amudeng has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Amudeng on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Amudeng tries to get out of the position. Berg throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khan rushes Rikkonen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. A frustrated look appears on Rikkonen's face as he tries to break the clinch. Rikkonen looking to stall.

Khan turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Khan manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Khan is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rikkonen's shoulder. That is not cool. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Khan lands an elbow. Rikkonen struggling a bit here. Khan tries to advance to mount but Rikkonen denies him.

He's got his arms around Khan's waist but Khan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rikkonen off to one side. Rikkonen lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Rikkonen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Khan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Rikkonen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Khan, pushing him back against the cage. Khan makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Rikkonen is pressed up against the cage. Khan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rikkonen down to the mat. Rikkonen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Rikkonen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Khan tries to avoid it but Rikkonen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Khan to the ground. Khan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Khan shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rikkonen as he jumps to the side. Khan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rikkonen looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rikkonen gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Rikkonen trying to control from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round. Khan tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Rikkonen. Khan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rikkonen has one foot on Khan's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Khan shoots in for a double leg but Rikkonen sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Eerik Rikkonen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aamer Khan. Rikkonen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Khan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rikkonen somewhat. Khan fails with a takedown attempt. Rikkonen shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Rikkonen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Khan as he avoids it easily. Khan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rikkonen but Rikkonen pushes him off and we're back to square one. Rikkonen defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Khan. Rikkonen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rikkonen misses with a takedown attempt - Khan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Khan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rikkonen!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rikkonen sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Khan is thwarting Rikkonen's attempts to control the position. Khan trying to mount his opponent but Rikkonen defends it. The fighters are battling for position here. Rikkonen manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Rikkonen tries to land a sweep but no joy. Khan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rikkonen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Khan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rikkonen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Khan has managed to get both his arms back between Rikkonen's legs - danger averted.

Khan trying to control the position from guard on top but Rikkonen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Khan wants to get up but he can't break Rikkonen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rikkonen is pulling down on Khan's head. It's preventing any offense from Khan, at least for the moment. Khan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rikkonen is proving hard to escape from.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Eerik Rikkonen. Well Khan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of George Johnson. Moore misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Johnson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moore quickly recovers to half guard.

It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Moore napping and manages to drive through into side control! Johnson in side control lands a decent elbow. You can see the frustration on Moore's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Moore is trying to improve his position. Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Johnson controls the position.
