The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Radbod Blank and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Filho manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Wright on his heels. He'll look to pass Wright's guard now, I'm sure.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Filho slips nicely into half guard.
Filho has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Wright defend it? Filho steps over the head and cranks it - Wright is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Filho!

Edwards fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Akesson avoids it really well and circles away.
Akesson gets the takedown into side control.
Akesson decides to stand back up.
Edwards is looking to land body kicks.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Edwards enables Akesson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Edwards manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Edwards really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Akesson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Akesson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Edwards is looking to escape.
Akesson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Edwards shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Akesson as he avoids it easily.

Akesson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Akesson showed some decent athleticism there.
Edwards wants to get back to full guard but Akesson has mounted him!

We've been hearing that Akesson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
