The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Enroll is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Enroll drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Read tries to bench press Enroll off him but Enroll keeps the position. Enroll tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Enroll has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Enroll wants to control but Read is keeping him busy. Enroll tries for a kimura but Read is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nope, Sulphur circles away and we're back to standing. Sulphur with a nice cross. Sulphur has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The Jungle Elite MMA in the buildup to the fight. The fight moves into the clinch position. Sulphur lands with a light punch inside. Sulphur gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Cruz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Sulphur trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom. Sulphur is really struggling to control Cruz but he's trying to hold on to the position. Cruz is looking for a triangle but Sulphur pushes his legs off easily.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cobretti misses with a left hand and Payakaroon counters with an inside leg kick. Cobretti fails with the takedown and Payakaroon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
It looks like Marcello Cobretti has been cut. Payakaroon throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Cobretti misses with a body shot.
Cobretti feints a jab promting Payakaroon to slip. Cobretti then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Payakaroon slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cobretti lands a nice leg kick that just misses Payakaroon's sensitive parts. Payakaroon turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Cobretti takes a swing at Payakaroon's ribcage but misses. Cobretti takes a jab on the nose. Payakaroon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Marcello Cobretti's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cobretti changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Payakaroon looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Cobretti working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Cobretti looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Payakaroon is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cobretti trying to control the position but Payakaroon is working away. The ground and pound from Cobretti seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Payakaroon has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

and Nebi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Vinetto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Vinetto works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Nebi defending well as Vinetto loads up on a big left hand. A combination from Vinetto does no damage. Vinetto misses with a hook. Nebi misses with a straight left. Nebi avoids the body shot from Vinetto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Strunz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zangief. That did some damage! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Strunz. Zangief shrugs it off though. Strunz keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Zangief. Strunz tries to land a front kick but Zangief steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. A leg kick checked by Zangief. Zangief throws a right and a left that both miss. Zangief ducks under a wild hook from Strunz. Strunz lands a nice looking body kick. Zangief connects with a right hand. Strunz shakes it off.
It looks like Bronko Strunz has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Zangief swings away with a leg kick that misses. Strunz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Zangief steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Strunz. Strunz tries to land a front kick but Zangief steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Zangief has been working on his boxing with his coaches at RNC Sport Club in the buildup to the fight. Strunz misses with a kick to the body.

Strunz throws a sloppy head kick and Zangief moves out of range easily. Zangief tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Strunz lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. A looping hook to the body misses from Zangief. Strunz does a little dance to reset his feet. Strunz pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Zangief fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Strunz is out of range. Strunz uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Zangief. Strunz ducks under a wild hook from Zangief. Strunz misses with a wild body shot. Strunz wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Strunz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zangief. That did some damage! An inside leg kick lands from Strunz. Strunz thows a body shot but no joy. Strunz wants to land a leg kick but Zangief is out of range. Zangief will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Strunz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Zangief. Ivan Zangief seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Strunz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Zangief throws a body kick that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zangief tries to land a body kick and Strunz counters with a left to the body. Strunz throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Strunz connects with a good right hand that stumbles Zangief. Zangief circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Zangief dips to his left and cracks Strunz with an uppercut! Zangief lands with a kick to the ribs.
Strunz scores with a jab. Zangief acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Zangief throws a jab but it's blocked by Strunz. Strunz keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Zangief. Strunz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Zangief misses with a straight right. Strunz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Zangief. That did some damage! Strunz lands a big head kick that sends Zangief tumbling to the mat! Strunz takes a step backwards and waves Zangief back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Zangief is rocked! Strunz feints a jab and as Zangief dips his head, Strunz unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Zangief right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Zangief falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Strunz smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Bronko Strunz! Bronko Strunz is the new heavyweight champion! Bronko Strunz decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
