The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes throws a jab when Lee was well out of range.
A low kick from Hughes is predictable there

and Lee counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lee.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Lee trying to control the position from guard on top but Hughes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lee stands and throws Hughes's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Lee has hold of Hughes's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hughes tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Lee cranks the arm and Hughes screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hughes, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

I think Whetu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Gunz for Hire - The Massacre. Whetu tries to clinch but Hornbach is having none of it.

Whetu fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hornbach throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hornbach slips a jab and a cross from Whetu.
We've been hearing reports that Whetu has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Whetu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hornbach as he jumps to the side.
Whetu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hornbach circles away quickly and effectively.
Hornbach misses with the combination.
Whetu tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

No joy there for Hornbach, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Whetu here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Hornbach breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hornbach lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Whetu goes down and covers up as Hornbach starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Carruthers tries to clinch up but Chee circles away and keeps his distance.
Carruthers moves in looking to clinch but Chee pushes him off.
Carruthers tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Carruthers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carruthers tries to close the distance and clinch but Chee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice uppercut there from Chee.
A good leg kick by Chee.
Chee lands a nice looking kick to the body. Carruthers takes a step back to recover.

A very excited looking Sum Gai rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
Jon Goodman was interviewed post fight and said 'Well this sucks and I am sorry to disappoint all the fans. I will come back better.'.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
