Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Frank Malone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mizo Samxona! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malone tries to clinch but Samxona is having none of it. Samxona shoots in and bounces Malone off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Malone has momentary wrist control but Samxona slips an elbow through the middle. Malone is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Samxona is controlling him. Samxona sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Malone's guard. Samxona prevents Malone from standing back up.
Samxona seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. This has been an exciting period of action! Samxona thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Malone on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Samxona looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Malone is rocked! Samxona lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Malone! More strikes land and this one is all over! Samxona jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mizo Samxona! A very excited looking Mizo Samxona made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Demaestri throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Demaestri doesn't manage to clinch there - Jan circles away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Demaestri, as that shot connected.
Jan tries for a takedown but Demaestri sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Demaestri throws a right hand that Jan ducks under and follows up with a left that Jan also avoids with ease. Sloppy strikes from Demaestri. Those never looked like landing. Demaestri tries to bum rush Jan with a series of wild strikes but Jan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Demaestri stuffs the takedown attempt from Jan. Jan gets slowly back to his feet. Jan tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Demaestri manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Demaestri tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jan swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jan misses with a takedown attempt and Demaestri counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jin Jan. That's going to take a lot out of him. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The fight stays on the outside here - Demaestri looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Demaestri moves out of range of the leg kick from Jan. Demaestri throws a right and a left that both miss. Jan looks to land a left hand but Demaestri moved out of range nicely.

Jan scores with a decent looking hook. Demaestri has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Demaestri tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jan swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jan shoots in for a takedown but Demaestri shows good takedown defense. Demaestri throws a nice looking combination but Jan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Demaestri misses with a series of wild punches.
Oooooh!!! Demaestri has knocked Jan down with a huge combo! Demaestri steps away and waves a wobbly Jan back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Jan is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jan tries to get into range but Demaestri steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Jan! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Demaestri scores the big KO victory!

Takada kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Metallica - All Nightmare Long. Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Criminal Minded kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Julio Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Takada definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Takada avoids the head kick by Smith.
Takada throws a leg kick that is checked and Smith counters with a nice body shot. Smith attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Takada lands a jab to the nose. Smith connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Takada doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Smith misses with an uppercut
enabling Takada to counter with a crisp jab. Smith loads up on a big right hand but Takada slips the punch. Julio Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Smith thows a leg kick but Takada checks it and Takada counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Takada throws a good cross that connects.
It looks like Julio Smith has been cut. Smith thows a left - swing and a miss! Smith clinches up against the ropes.

Takada swings wildly with an uppercut but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Takada. Takada using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Smith has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Some bone on bone action there as Smith checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Takada takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Takada throws a leg kick but Smith sees it coming and moves out of range. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Takada lands with a right hand. Smith throws a shot from downtown. Takada moves away and avoids it. Boom, another hit is landed. Smith jabs at Takada's body. Takada steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Smith. That one must have hurt. An inside leg kick lands from Takada. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Takada thows a leg kick but Smith checks it and Smith counters with a body kick that stops Takada in his tracks momentarily. Smith throws a head kick but Takada moves out of range.

The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Takada cracks the inside of Smith's front leg. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Takada lands a leg kick that knocks Smith off balance momentarily. Good work by Smith as he checks the leg kick. Takada lands with a kick to the ribs.

Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Smith needs to keep his hands up - Takada had a free shot at his head there. Smith lands the left hand. Smith misses with a double jab.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Takada lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Smith has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Smith and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Smith lands a nice looking body shot.

Takada thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Smith to his feet! Smith is in big trouble!
That has opened up Julio Smith's cut even more. Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Takada takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Takada misses with a body shot.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivas doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sharpe counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Rivas tries for a takedown but Sharpe circles away easily and Sharpe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sharpe. Sharpe trying to control the position from guard on top but Rivas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Rivas really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Sharpe working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rivas's head. Rivas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sharpe postures up in Rivas's guard and throws a big left but Rivas blocks it. Sharpe is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Sharpe in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Rivas can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sharpe controls the pace. This has been an exciting period of action! Rivas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sharpe on the ground.

We've been hearing reports that Mahal has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Mahal scores with a body shot.

Silva has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mahal should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Silva has tightened it up now! Mahal should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

It connects and Larocque has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Larocque sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Lunar throws a leg kick which misses Larocque's front leg but catches the back leg as Larocque tries to avoid it. Lunar dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Larocque. That did some damage!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lunar lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Larocque throws a right hand that Lunar ducks under and follows up with a left that Lunar also avoids with ease. Lunar misses with a right hand and Larocque makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Larocque might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Lunar has got the better of the exchanges. Lunar ducks under a wild hook from Larocque. Good leg kick by Lunar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little. In defeat, Bryan Larocque stepped up to the mic, saying 'I did my best, and all the fans know I live for this sport, so what is meant to be will be. He was the better fighter today, but we never know what the future holds for us until we put our minds to it. Thank you all!'.
