The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kulkunen fails with a takedown attempt. Poli tries for a takedown but Kulkunen circles away easily and Kulkunen counters with a nice double leg into half guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Poli is staying active underneath Kulkunen, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Poli moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Kulkunen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Poli swivels though and keeps the full guard. Poli looking for submissions from the bottom here. Anton Walter had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Lamour Ferdinand was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Putkilo did well to prevent Okunaba getting side control. Putkilo is looking for a sweep. Okunaba is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Okunaba is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Okunaba looking to sit in guard and control but Putkilo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Okunaba keeping moving, preventing Putkilo from controlling successfully. Putkilo looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
