The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Potterswheel avoids the head kick by Aldo.
Aldo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Aldo tries a head kick but it misses.
Aldo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Potterswheel is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Aldo. Potterswheel looks to land a left hand but Aldo moved out of range nicely. Aldo misses with a wild combination.

It looks like Jose Aldo has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Aldo throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Aldo sprawls well initially but Potterswheel persists and gets the takedown into half guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Potterswheel lands with a punch from half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aldo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Potterswheel connects with a nice short shot to Aldo's temple. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Potterswheel is looking to take a break and control but Aldo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Aldo is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jose Aldo. Horrible takedown by Potterswheel or perhaps it was just good defense by Aldo which made him look bad. A jab from Potterswheel misses. Potterswheel avoids a punch combination nicely.

A telegraphed right hand from Potterswheel misses the target. A right-left combo lands from Aldo. Potterswheel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Aldo moves away. Potterswheel swings for the body but Aldo moves out of range.
Potterswheel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Aldo on the side of the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Potterswheel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Potterswheel fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Aldo avoids it really well and circles away. We've been told by Aldo's head coaches at HILITE Fighting Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Sloppy strikes from Potterswheel. Those never looked like landing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Quinton Xavier Potterswheel will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jose Aldo's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Potterswheel stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Aldo. Aldo tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Potterswheel avoids the head kick by Aldo.
Potterswheel fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Aldo to the ground. Potterswheel is now in Aldo's guard. Aldo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Potterswheel throws a big elbow that misses. Potterswheel trying to control the position from guard on top but Aldo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Aldo has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Aldo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aldo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Potterswheel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Potterswheel with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Potterswheel stops Aldo from standing up. Aldo tries to land a sweep but no joy. Potterswheel postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Potterswheel slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Potterswheel landing strikes. Potterswheel looks up at the clock and then as Aldo takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Potterswheel smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Potterswheel is working Aldo over with some ground and pound from side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Potterswheel trying to control the action but Aldo is working from the bottom. Aldo is working to avoid the ground and pound but Potterswheel connects with a decent elbow. You can see the frustration on Aldo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Potterswheel throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Potterswheel landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Potterswheel looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Potterswheel moves into full mount! Aldo tries to lock up and control but Potterswheel gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Aldo is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Aldo tries to hold on but Potterswheel postures up. Aldo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Potterswheel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Potterswheel scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Potterswheel wants to control the pace but Aldo is squirming around nicely. Aldo is in a horrible position here. Potterswheel smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Jose Aldo's cut is getting worse. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Potterswheel lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Oh Aldo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Potterswheel cracks Aldo with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

Fresh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kelly. Kelly lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Fresh backs up against the cage.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kelly has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Fresh throws a hook to the side of Kelly's head but Kelly sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Fresh lands with an uppercut that bounces Kelly off the cage and back into range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kelly throws a right hand that Fresh ducks under and follows up with a left that Fresh also avoids with ease. Kelly swings for the body but Fresh moves out of range.

Kelly slips under a jab from Fresh. Kelly tests Fresh's chin there with a solid looking shot. Kelly moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Fresh moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Kelly! Fresh continues to tee off on Kelly, landing with a left and a right! Fresh connects with a right hand that leaves Kelly sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Fresh!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Del Rio defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Grimes. Grimes shoots in for a double leg but Del Rio sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Grimes has a takedown stuffed. Alberto Del Rio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Grimes. Grimes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Del Rio working a defensive guard here.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Reynolds working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Messi is staying active underneath Reynolds, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Reynolds lands a nice shot to the body. Messi tries for a takedown but Reynolds manages to get underhooks.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lima throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Karl Kennison has been cut. Lima throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kennison chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Lima has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Lima staying out of range there. Lima lands a nice looking body shot.
Good leg kick by Lima there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Jab by Lima. The fight stays on the outside here - Kennison looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kennison is looking to slow Lima down with leg kicks. Lima takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Lima throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Lima with a body punch. A glancing blow. Lima drops Kennison with a straight right hand, right on the button! Lima follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
