0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alexei Laguera! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nunes shoots in for a double leg but Laguera sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Laguera avoids a punch combination nicely.
Laguera throws a series of strikes that have Nunes backpedaling.
Nunes misses with a takedown and Laguera counters by clinching up. Laguera stalling in the clinch.
Nunes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Laguera walks away with a smile on his face. Nunes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patricio Nunes. That's going to take a lot out of him. Laguera manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Nunes on his heels. He'll look to pass Nunes's guard now, I'm sure. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nunes preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Nunes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Laguera! Laguera tries to hold on but Nunes postures up. Nunes definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Laguera is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Nunes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Nunes with a flurry of punches that miss.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schlemper throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. No luck for Schlemper with that takedown attempt. The Phenom shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Schlemper is trying to defend but The Phenom finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Schlemper is looking for a sweep. The Phenom is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Schlemper darts in looking for a takedown but The Phenom gets double underhooks and turns Schlemper into the cage.

It will also be interesting to see what tactics Schlemper uses from the top position. Schlemper slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schlemper stands up. The Phenom tries to bum rush Schlemper with a series of wild strikes but Schlemper uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The Phenom is breathing heavily. Schlemper closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The Phenom did well to prevent Schlemper getting side control. Schlemper is working for a kimura but The Phenom is defending it quite comfortably.

Schlemper with a poor takedown and The Phenom counters by moving into the clinch. Loki The Phenom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fabricio Schlemper. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The Phenom lands an uppercut. Schlemper wants to break the clinch but can't.

Schlemper shoots for a takedown but The Phenom saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Schlemper drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Schlemper tries to free his leg and advance position but The Phenom is retaining full guard. Schlemper passes into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. The Phenom wants to get back to full guard.

The Phenom has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Schlemper is on him like a limpet, forcing The Phenom back against the cage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The Phenom escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick by Schlemper misses and The Phenom counters with a low kick, right behind Schlemper 's knee. Schlemper fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Phenom sprawls well initially but Schlemper persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Schlemper is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! The Phenom is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Schlemper locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! The Phenom is forced to tap!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Abdulrahim to the mat! Abdulrahim manages to get full guard. Santos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Abdulrahim trying to keep a closed guard but Santos is proving a slippery customer.

Santos doesn't succeed with the takedown and Abdulrahim counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Santos! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santos is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abdulrahim taking a breather here. It looks like Abdulrahim might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
