The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruutikainen throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ruutikainen throws a looping overhand right but Hasun ducks down to avoid it. Ruutikainen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hasun pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruutikainen is keeping the position for now. Hasun is fighting to break Ruutikainen's control of his arms but Ruutikainen is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruutikainen wants to sweep here but Hasun controlling him for the moment.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hasun looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hasun is breathing heavily. Hasun really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ruutikainen scores with a hook. Ruutikainen lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A chopping leg kick lands by Ruutikainen. Oh Hasun is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ruutikainen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scherm fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Loxely, pushing him back against the cage. Loxely looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Scherm wants a takedown.
Loxely has had enough of the clinch but Scherm keeps him there for the moment. Scherm pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Scherm feints and as Loxely raises his hands in defense, Scherm changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Scherm is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Scherm makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Loxely can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Scherm controls the pace. Scherm prevents Loxely from getting back to his feet. Loxely wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Scherm manages to pass to side control. Nice strikes from Scherm there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Loxely can do anything to dispel that myth. Scherm working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Scherm is looking for a kimura but Loxely is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scherm to get the leverage. Scherm not doing much here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scherm has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Scherm working over Loxely with some ground and pound. Loxely looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Scherm sitting and controlling from the half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Loxely taking some punishment here, with Scherm in his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Scherm content to control rather than advance. Scherm prevents Loxely from standing back up.
Scherm works his foot free and advances to mount. Scherm is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Loxely is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Loxely flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Scherm anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Loxely and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Scherm slips an arm under Loxely chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Scherm has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Scherm is squeezing on Loxely like an anaconda would it's prey. Loxely fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Irvine is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin Ricketts. That's going to take a lot out of him. Irvine lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Irvine lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ricketts backwards. Nyqvist sneaks back into half guard. Nyqvist is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Korder pulls his head out easily. It looks like Korder is going to stand back up.
Korder will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Korder wants to take a breather but Nyqvist is having none of it. Nyqvist keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Korder trying to pass the guard but Nyqvist defending well.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Korder shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Nyqvist napping and manages to drive through into side control! Korder misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Korder wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Nyqvist, who protects the arm well. Nyqvist tries to bench press Korder off him but Korder keeps the position. Nyqvist looks gassed! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hamalainen on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Mika Hamalainen has been cut. Hamalainen misses with a two punch combination.
Hamalainen throws a series of punches but Wang moves out of range. Hamalainen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wang darts in and clinches Hamalainen up against the cage. Wang digs a right hand into Hamalainen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Hamalainen's gas tank. Wang pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hamalainen jabbing away but nothing is landing. Wang throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Hamalainen stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Wang is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Hamalainen is breathing heavily. Hamalainen tries to clinch but Wang moves out of range. Ting Yan Wang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wang keeps the fight on the outside. Hamalainen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wang lands a head kick. Hamalainen smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Wang avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Wang scores with a hook to the body. Hamalainen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Wang pushes Hamalainen up against the cage in a clinch. Wang throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Hamalainens head. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wang creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wang walks away with a smile on his face. Hamalainen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Hamalainen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wang paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wang fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Wang closes the distance and clinches. Wang scores with a nice hook to the head. Wang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Wang works on Hamalainen's body with a couple of short punches. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A short right from Wang. Wang scores with an uppercut up the middle.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Wang. Hamalainen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Wang just stands there and leans against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mika Hamalainen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hamalainen takes a knee to the side of the body. Wang manages to break the clinch.
Hamalainen tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wang swivels and escapes. Wang sends Hamalainen crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Wang is motioning to the referee to let Hamalainen up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Oh Hamalainen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

A shot to de liver by Wang. Beautiful body shot. Wang fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Hamalainen. Hamalainen seems to have got his legs back now. Wang scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Jeez, Mika Hamalainen's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Wang has closed the distance and engaged Hamalainen in a clinch.
