Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Junior Mapo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Daemon Hubert!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mapo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Mapo is looking for a kimura here.
Hubert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mapo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mapo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hubert doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mapo.

Hubert looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hubert shoots in for a takedown but Mapo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hubert is refusing to be controlled, as Mapo sits in half guard.
Still in half guard, Mapo seems content to control.
Hubert pushes Mapo off looking to stand but Mapo dives back in and keeps control.
Hubert is staying active underneath Mapo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Hubert is trying to stand up here but Mapo is controlling him well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Mapo feints and as Hubert raises his hands in defense, Mapo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mapo tries to free his leg and advance position but Hubert is retaining full guard.
Hubert can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mapo controls the pace.

Mapo drops back looking for a leg! Hubert is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hubert manages to kick Mapo off! Mapo jumps back into Hubert's guard.

Mapo wants to control from the top but Hubert keeps moving.
Mapo stops Hubert from standing up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No luck for Hubert with that takedown attempt.
Junior Mapo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daemon Hubert.

Hubert shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mapo defends it nicely.

Mapo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Mapo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mapo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hubert has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Mapo can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hubert is looking to escape.
Hubert wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mapo wants to finish this one by submission but Hubert is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Mapo.

Hubert wants to try and get back to his feet.

Mapo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hubert to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hubert shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Mapo dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hubert gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mapo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mapo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Mapo passes the guard and advances to mount!

Hubert is keeping busy.

Hubert is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Mapo gets his way!

Hubert is trying to get back to his feet but Mapo has full control of the position and if anything, Hubert has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Hubert is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Mapo off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Hubert is trying to stand back up.

Mapo is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Hubert knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Hubert for a finish.
